I'm considering picking up a complete Iver Johnson Commander-length upper (slide, barrel, all small parts, already assembled) for a project. Specifically, their Trojan or Hawk upper. I found their website after doing a search for Essex parts and being directed to Iver Johnson.

Anyone have experience with these parts, or with their complete pistols? I've priced out the necessary parts to do this from Caspian and a few other places and that'd be quite a lot more money.

I know the phrase "you get what you pay for" is always in effect, but I also know it's always a matter of degree, and I'd like to know if the IJ stuff is decent or not.

Any input appreciated.

I was cooking up some ideas with them in mind some time back. I actually saw one of their pistols at a gunshow and it looked like a very well finished firearm. It had a very deep glossy blue - strikingly so.

I'm kicking myself becasue I can't remember which Phillipines plant they're built at- but it's one or the other of the two largest.

I'm looking at the matte/park'd finish, actually, but thanks for the input.

I think they're made at the SAM factory but I could be wrong.

Anyone else?
