I fell down a rabbit hole last month looking for an ideal backpacking gun. I went PCC, then an ultralight 22, then a combo 22/.410, then finally landed on the glut of folding shotguns that have been coming out of Turkey the last few years.
I have an 18.5" barreled H&R 12 gauge that I fired once without hearing protection and never will again. I knew I wanted a 20 gauge with a decent length barrel but the Walmart $99 shotguns are only available in extra long and extra short barrels, plus they have a crossbolt safety on a hammer-fired gun.
I finally found the Iver Johnson: 24" full choke 20 gauge barrel, Walnut stocked, hammer fired without a safety, sling swivels, and a crude set of sights, $138 from Bud's. Looks perfect on paper.
The Iver Johnson seems to be the only folding Shotgun currently available that isn't a variant of the Midland Backpack Shotgun. Does anyone have one? Are they any good?
