Could anyone help me date this iver johnson. It has american bull dog stampted on top of the barrel and has 2389 under the left grip. it's a 5shot cilinder and that's about all I can offer...

I believe it was made probably between about 1883 and maybe 1899, give or take a bit. Someone else may have mor eprecise dates. In any case, blackpowder only.

Its similar to their Model 1900. Its a turn of the 20th century design..........A tidbit of info.........I believe that that design does not have an automatic safety. I believe they had a safety notch in the hammer. Sort of like a half cock............So if you load it let the hammer down on an empty chamber.....................Bob

I have one just like it in .38 S&W. From the little I can gather I think it was made around 1898. The same thing made after 1899 was stamped somewhere with "1899", so if yours doesn't have that stamp it was made sometime before then.
