I got this wheel gun for Christmas from my father-in-law. I shot it Saturday with standard velocity target .22's. The blueing is nonexistant on the cylinder but other than that the pistol looks if pretty shape. Are this ok for high velocity rounds? Does anyone else have one of these? Do you like it, dislike it? Any information would be helpful. Now here are some pics.

Here is the IJ with my Khuk.

The only gun my father ever owned before he got his CHL 2 years ago at the age of 72 was an IJ .22lr. It remained unfired from the day he bought it in 1964 until he gave it to me as a gift in 2001. I thought I would research the value of the gun since it was nearly 40 years old and NIB. Turns out, the gun had appreciated from $18 to $50. *wow*:(

I should also mention that after firing the gun a few times it is WAY overpriced at $50.

Thanks. I shot this gun Sat. and it seemed very accurate and the trigger was really good. I personally am falling in love with this gun as it is really fun and cheap to shoot.

I'm glad someone out there has a good IJ. I don't ever shoot mine as it is literally so bad (action, sights, trigger) that I feel like I am wasting ammo using it. However, all that being said, I will most likely keep it and give it to my son since it is the closest thing to a family heirloom I have ever received from my dad.

Lacking a crane, it'll be fairly tough. So long as it passes the checkout (cylinder isn't too loose, esp. in the front/back direction) I wouldn't hesitate to run Remington Yellowjackets or CCI Stingers and press the thing into home defense duty if that was all I had :). I wouldn't shoot a huge amount of 'em, it IS a classic, but I'd run 50 through to see where they printed.

And with that barrel length, it won't be half shabby in that role! If the gap isn't too nutso (.006" or less?) and the barrel bore isn't pitted, betcha the "hot stuff" will hit 1,400fps or more. Hmmm...with that barrel length, you might try CCI Velociraptors (super heavies).

It deffinately passed the checkout. If it will shool high velocity rounds decently then it will be in my wifes hands when things go bump in the night.
