Iver Johnson Target Mod 55A ??

This revolver got passed down from my grandfather-in-law. ANY info you can share with me would be awesome! Its seems to be an older gun--and is in "ok" shape. I cleaned it up and lubricated it and now the cylinder and trigger seem pretty smooth. I believe its a .22 Caliber.

1. Should I shoot this gun?
2. Is this definitely a .22?
3. What specific type of round does it take?
4. Some History (ie. date, purpose, etc.)
5. Do you have any experiences shooting this revolver?

Looks to be in pretty good shape.
It is a .22 LR probably should use standard velocity.
