IWA 2012 - Cold Steel, big knifes, arrow shooting air guns!

The IWA is probably Europe's most important annual weapons show. No hobbyists are allowed, except with a personal invitation by one of the exhibitors.

Cold Steel was kind enough to invite me to the show! Meet Lynn Thompson, founder and president of Cold Steel, see him receiving his Jörg Sprave Hammerhead slingshot in cast aluminum. Lynn then gives a personal demonstration of his fighting skills with two huge Bowie knifes.

I personally checked out some of the most impressive Cold Steel products. I left their booth with a huge amount of presents in exchange for my slingshots. Generous guys for sure!

Then, I walked the showfloor, looking for other cool stuff. Large knifes, awesome crossbows and even a brand new arrow shooting air rifle from Sweden are presented in this slightly off topic video - to me, the true highlight. Built in pump, three strokes for 300 fps! They even have a model that is detachable, breech loaded and fires up to 600 fps - the fastest arrow shooter in the world?

One of our other members is there this year. He's looking at other things and only has the weekend due to work. No way that you'll bump into each other, but nice to know we have people at IWA.
 
What caught my attention was the 600fps arrow from an air launched rifle/crossbow/airgun...the high end Barnetts are only hitting 400 fps.
 
So...

Do I detect the possibility that Cold Steel might soon offer a Jörg Sprave designed slingshot?
 
That is a possibility, yes. I do free design work for any manufacturer that asks, did two for Dankung, two for Hogancastings, one for Gamekeeper John. But of course there is much work to do before that may become a reality. I would be very proud indeed.
