Ok, I've decided that 2005 is the year that I will buy a 3" revolver in chambered in .357 magnum.

I need recommendations for an iwb rig. Yeah, I know, those cylinders have girth. But I carry an G30 IWB with no problem. Right now I am leaning towards a ruger SP101 or possibly even a ruger Gp100 or similar Smith & Wesson if I can find it.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that many people will recommend the Milt Sparks VM2 or the Comp-TAC CTAC. Comp-tac doesn't list revolver models (other than the S&W jframe) as an option for his IWB holsters but my understanding is that he will make them on a non-returnable custom order basis.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? Any pictures of their 3" revolver iwb rigs?

Matt Del Fatti!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out Matt Del Fatti, any of his ISP series should work. Here is his site. Give him a call, he'll take all the time necessary to help you make a decision.
Downside: 9 months to a year wait, but worth it.

I'm about four months into my wait for an ISP-4 for my P7M8. I am giving serious thought to having it made for my 3" Smith Mod. 65.

Follow the link to the CTAC

Holsters
Auto Loaders & J Frames $80.00
Factory Direct $70.00
L & N Frames $91.00
Factory Direct $80.00

I carry my 610 3 7/8" in one of these. The clips let you position the cylinder either above or below your belt. I wear mine below for better concealment but above would be a little more comfortable.

I have been carrying a 3" K-frame off and on for over a decade now, and I've gone through many holsters. After having rotated through a veritable arsenal of handguns, I have settled on just two that I carry/use -- a 3" K-frame or a Commander .45. The rest are just superfluous to my needs.

The best of the bunch, as far as I'm concerned, for the 3" K-frame are:

Milt Sparks Versa Max II -- simply a stupendous holster all around; interchangeable straps for differing belt widths and colors make my tan model blend into any color belt I have on.

Tucker Texas Heritage -- great rig, tuckable that actually works, very much adjustable.

Del Fatti ISP-3; also makes the best pouches for Comp I/II I've ever handled.
prime quality holsters and leather -- worth the 13 month wait and then some

Bell Charter Oak also has a modified Chic Gaylord design called the Constable Holdout that works quite nicely.

On the budget end, Don Hume's 715-M is a decent budget rig that can be had for about $35.00, and the Split-Six speedloader pouches ain't too bad.

Cunningham Leather makes a radically different speedloader pouch that carries the loader horizontally over the belt line and is quite affordable.

Several holster-makers also make speed strip pouches for belt use. But I find that the change/watch pocket on jeans is usually cut big enough to accomodate a single 6-round strip and not peek out too much. Also, carpenter and painter pants, plus cargo pants make great places to stash either speedloaders or speed strips.

As far as speedloaders go, have never cottoned up to the Maxfire or HKS. The Maxfires are just trash. The HKS are reliable and sturdy, but slow with the twist knob. I really like the Comp I and Comp II Safariland loaders. They engage with the central star and eject the rounds into the chambers. Speed strips are somewhat slower, but lie flatter.

I have been very pleased with my holster from AKJ Concealco www.concealco.com .

It is very comfortable to wear all day and is adjustable for cant.

I second the recommendation of the Milt Sparks Versa Max II and Del Fatti ISP-3. Expensive, but very fine.

Allessi Talon for a 3" k-frame fits my speed six perfectly. Well worth the $.

I use an Alessi Talon with my 3" Model 65. I carry it in the appendix carry position. It conceals well and is reasonably comfortable. I do notice the gun a little more than when I carried my Makarov in the same position, due to the thickness of the cylinder, but it's still comfortable enough.
