J.C. Higgins Barrel and Magazine Tube Removal

I have J.C. Higgins Model 29 and I am refinishing it anybody out there in THR land know how the barrel comes off or at least the magazine tube.

I believe the mag tube is held on with a cross pin in the front band.

I believe the barrel is screwed into the receiver.

Thanks rc, got the tube off, I was wanting to take the barrel off but ran into a snag, I don't know how to get the front sight ramp off.

Front sight ramp is probably silver soldered on.

What is the receiver made out of?

Test it with a magnet.

If it sticks, it is steel.

If it doesn't, it is aluminum alloy of some sort.

Pretty sure they are anodized aluminum, but I haven't seen one for a long time.
