Hi. I hope that this is not a stupid question but can you take off the barrel of a JC Higgins 12 gauge 583.16 Model 10 shotgun? Does it unscrew from the frame/ receiver or is it all just one piece? Thanks!

Is this a pump shotgun? I have a JC Higgins pump and the old yellowed manual warns that only a qualified gunsmith should try to remove the barrel. It is screwed on but needs care since if you try to unscrew it without the proper tools, you could bend the receiver, making the whole thing good only for parts.

Hi. Nope, not a pump but a bolt action 4 or 5 shot.
