I use a leather Don Hume.
If presented a choice between the two at the same price level, the Mitch Rosen usually has a higher quality of workmanship, even in their lower end Express line...which is what I presume you are comparing, as their full detailed 5JR model is close to $150.
A better comparison between Rosen and Galco (it is still weird to call it that) is the 5JR President which also has the offset seam that the Concealable is known for

Have you looked at the simply rugged holsters?? For around $70 you get several holsters in one, owb strong side canted or not, cross draw or iwb. I'm very happy with mine. www.simplyrugged.com

I bought a Bianchi #7 for my J frame sized Charter Undercover. Inexpensive and works just fine.

What works for me for my concealed carry is the Don Hume JIT Slide. I use it with everything from 1911 to J Frames. They cost about $30.
The holster does not have a retaining strap, so if I was "active" I might choose a different holster. Although for normal wear the gun is secure.

You literally posted this right under my post that was recommending simply rugged
... lolI've never owned as incredible a holster as my left-handed Rosen UPL (Upper Limit) for my 1964-made Model 36 "square latch/diamond" J-frame.
The fit and the finish are simply stunning compared to all the other holsters I've owned. A retention strap is absolutely unnecessary . . . the gun seems to simply "click" into place when holstered with a perfect and totally secure fit, yet can be drawn with maximum speed too . . . since it will release just as cleanly! I don't know how they do it so well!!!
Awesome holsters indeed, and well worth the price, IMHO!!!

If you're willing to look at other holsters I like a few different companies.
While Simply Rugged makes great holsters so does DeSantis, Don Hume and Galco. (and all at a fair price) There are other good manufacturers out there but their prices are much higher. (not that they aren't worth the price in most cases)

Normally for wheelguns I chime in with "Simply Rugged" ... and for large revolvers they are the holster of choice.
However for a J-Frame I have to recommend a pancake from Lobo Gun Leather.

Does anyone know of a place in the DFW area that sells holsters you can try on? Im thinking of a place that would have various holster types you can try on in the store with your gun before you make a purchase.

CZDave, I figure any large gun shop would have a good selection of off the shelf type holsters (like Galco, Bianichi, Blackhawk, Safariland, etc). I would suspect there's a lot of big gun shops in DFW.
However the smaller holster makers tend to make their holsters on order so you'll be limited to the major manufacturers.

Thanks Zundfolge. Yea actually we have several places where you can see the ones like you mentioned but the places I've visited are not to fond of letting you remove them from their wrappers to check them out.
