J&G sales?

I lived in Prescott Az for about seven years and I visited j&G at least once a week if not more.

While it wasn't the best gun store in Prescott in my opinion it was always fun to visit and I bought many guns from them over the years. Good staff and good deals.

Whenever I go back to Prescott to visit I always stop by J&G, it's like seeing an old friend.

They seem to have everything and in some cases really good prices. AKs, sks, ARs, mosins for $79 or less.

They are great, just bought an AK/SKS front sight adjustment tool from them. The only beef that I have with them is that they charge a ton for shipping small things. $10 to ship 30 SKS stripper clips is crazy; put them in a padded envelope and send them USPS for about $2. They ship UPS or Fedex (don't remember which) which makes small orders expensive. I guess that way they can ship everything (including gusn and ammo) with one carrier.

It's worth checking other vendors before buying from J&G.... As noted their shipping charges are sometimes ridiculously high. For some guns they don't always have all the accessories that should come with a gun.

A perfect example of this is the C93.... J&G sells it for $499 except if you buy it from J&G you will have to pay another $49 for the second mag and another $29 for the bayonet, both items that should come with the rifle. Might as well buy it from Centerfire Systems, they sell it for $499 but everything comes with it.

An example of the high shipping rates is the Romanian Draco AK pistol.... Both J&G and Classic Arms sell it for $349 but J&G automatically tacks on an extra $50 for high shipping costs. It is a heavy pistol but $50 is well on the high side to for that.

J&G does have a great selection of guns and I have bought from them in the past and will again in the future. If I'm ever in the area I would stop by and check their store out but in some circumstances you can definitely do a lot better than their prices.

The thing I don't like about J&G is they ship ammo with signature required and the UPS guy comes to my house during my working hours. It makes it very difficult for me to get my ammo, so I go with Champion Shooters for ammo instead.

Bought a Radom P64 from them last year. It was in better condition than advertised and was at my ffl in 2 days.

They are great, and if you don't mind that it takes a little while on CS (cause they do major business and lots of orders) I have never gotten a lemon from them, and read the descriptions, condition is accurately described.

A coworker of mine had some issues with a Ruger 556 he purchased from them. They took very good care of his issues, going above and beyond in my opinion.

I have used J&G for almost 36 years and have never had a problem with any of the material we have ordered, from Model 29's in the 70's to collector rifles now.

I have my FFL on file with them, I bought a couple of Mosin's from them. They are thumbs up in my book.
We had almost 30 Mosins from them come through in the last two weeks from a bunch of guys who work together who coordinated their own group buy. Incredibly nice rifles for the price, all matching numbers, beautiful wood, etc.

Don't we wish all companies could satisfy their customers as well...Glad to hear it.

I think one of the best deals they have going is the Smith and Wesson .38 Special LEO trade-ins. A couple hundred buck and you have a great pistol in stainless steel.

That's odd. I saw that on my ammo order, too, but when I got home, there it was, a giant box with 2 spam cans of 7.62x54R. Maybe he just didn't want to lug it back to the truck...

J&G is one of a very short list of online merchants I will never buy from again. Had customers buy and ship guns to me for transfer. Too many times I've had to ship guns back to J&G for very serious deviation from product description..
Glad previous posters have had good luck so far, I sincerely hope it continues

I saved this from another forum.

See post #17.

Shoddy business practices.

I worked for J and G for 3 years. I was their warehouse man, gunsmith and sales person. The owners are very ruthless and are only concerned about money. The first thing Brad would do in the late morning when he got there was to go straight to the cash register and see how much money was taken in. He would walk right past us employees without even a good morning or greeting. I repaired and put out for sale many unsafe guns, which they would sometimes (and sometimes not) tag as "gunsmith specials" sold with no refund or waranty. When shipments came in, they would unscrupulously remove all the accessories (mags, slings, etc) normally supplied with the guns and sell them seperately. One of the worse things that they made me do there was when they took in a trade on a used Ladysmith Smith and Wesson, they instructed me to clean it up, and they put it out for sale as new. A lady purchased it a couple of days later unaware. I still regret that. Ive also cleaned up suicide guns of their dried blood and hair and put them out for sale unbeknownst to the buyer. They control their employees through fear. The so called manager Tom is a whole new ball of wax, I wont even get started about him. I could go on and on. Their bad news guys. Im not being spiteful, I just wanted to share some of my experiences.
