Looking at going from pocket carry with a mouse gun to something a little more substantial. While looking at different IWB systems there are the various hooks systems. The J-hooks look like they actually slip over the side of your pants and the "J" fastens at the bottom of the belt. This does not appear to actually use the belt to support the weight of the holster. Is this correct? The C-Hooks look as though they have the belt slip through them and actually hold the weight. This appears to be more difficult to take off and put on. Is this also correct? What about the tuckables? Appears to be the same system with the hooks but with room to tuck the shirt. Appears to be pretty difficult to actually tuck the shirt so as to be neat and non printing. About the hooks which all appear to be made of kydex. Is kydex only in black and is there any way to color the kydex to blend with different color belts? Brown!

I had never thought of that, but you're right. The weight of the gun is actually on the pant waistband. I looked at a picture of a Galco NSA to be sure.

I've never thought much of J-hooks anyway, as they look awfully likely to slip out from under the belt. Now I think even less of them.

My Comptac IWB for my P7M8 is j-hook. Normally it's actually the belt compressing the holster against your side that keep it in place. The hook is just to keep the holster from coming out when you draw. Worked just fine the one time I had to draw when I was off duty.

You're right, but it's not really a problem; yeah it's not supported directly on the belt but the waistband is supported by the belt and as Jenrick says, the holster being squeezed between yourself & your belt & pants provides a lot of resistance to movement. I've used a Blade-Tech with J-clips and it worked fine in occasional carry and lots of IDPA. Then I got a Comp-Tac with V-clips -- where the clip Velcros to the inside of the belt. That was a little more hassle to put on but the concealment is amazing and the holster was rock solid.
