J Stevens 22cal tip-up pistol

Does anyone have any idea about this;
My friend has what appears to be a very, very old target pistol.
It is stamped J. Stevens and bears the serial # 3400 followed by an (I) in a circle. It sort of looks like a "luger", but with a very long barrel (9 1/2").
The gun is very primative appearing and the hammer is a pull-pin on the back above the grip.
If anyone has any information or knowledge about this weapon it would be greatly appreciated.

Pictures would be a big help, but it sounds like you have a Stevens Target No 10 Pistol. Looks like an automatic but is a single shot.
They made 7131 of them between 1919 and 1933.

Unusual.
The barrel is longer than standard, you say 9 1/2", Flayderman's book says 8".
The sling swivel is certainly an add-on, maybe the barrel is a replacement. I know of no way to check it out, Stevens does not have the old records that Colt and Smith do.
I shot one a little bit about 1960, thought a single shot pistol was kind of dull.
One turns up at a gun show every now and then.

Yours is more worn and has been altered, so figure a lower dollar value.
