I have an interesting old Stevens pistol and last night when cleaning it I noticed something different about it. It's a Model 35 Off Hand Target model, a single shot 22lr with a tip up barrel. The stamping on it ( J Stevens Arms Company) places it between 1920- 1940. It's got the hexagonal breech body and round barrel, and the nice cast trigger guard, not the stamped metal one. It's also fully blued, which is a little different and seems to be original.

Two other things are also different. The serial number stamped on the barrel is alpha-numeric. K85XX. And to either side of the "J Stevens" stamping there is a circle with a capital "I" in the centre. Once on the barrel and once on the frame.

I haven't seen this on any other Model 35. I know it's a long shot but have any of you seen this. There's very little info on these old pistols, and what I have found makes no mention of this.
