Looking at the Winchester website I seen that they made a jack O'Connor custom tribute m70. Looks like a rifle I'd love to have in my safe! Has anyone seen or purchased one and does anyone know what the going price for them is?

I read somewhere else that actual pricing will be 1500 for the normal tribute and 2000 for the custom tribute. I could use a new 270 since the only one I have is a m70 from the 50's my grandpa gave me and I don't shoot it. :)

Its a nice idea but I am not enough of a JOC fan to look at his name on my gun. Also the 270 does nothing for me. I already have too many of them.

Nothing wrong with the .270 but I don't know about that rifle. Seems like it's more for collecting than use. I've been looking at model 70's as I want another.

Funny that I don't even own a .270 and never have. My first rifle I could not decide on .270 or .243 but figured it would be one or the other. Well, what I bought wasn't available in .270 and I ended up with a .25-06. And I tell you I don't regret the .25-06.

The .243 is another that I don't have either. Last year out of stupidity I bought a rifle in .22-250, if it were only a do over.

i grew up reading oconnor, and my first serious hunting rifle was a ruger tang 270 win. now, 40 years later, i recently purchased a new fn m70 super grade in 270 win. used it last fall on several deer and an elk. my super grade is as close as i'll get to a rifle like jack's. i would tend to be too careful with a tribute version in the woods, thus i couldn't enjoy the hunt. they are certainly beautiful!

I'd have to use it at least one season. I'd just walk out to my stand, very carefully, sit down and not move until dark!

Ol Jack still has quite of following among the older hunters. I read his writings for many years and have several of his books. He was a very interesting writer and even when I didn't agree with him I still respected his opinion. I carried a Model 70 270 Winchester for many years hunting whitetails and mule deer. I finally came to the conclusion that the only cartridge for me that has served me better is a 30-06. I don't hunt with the 270's any more but I get them out and shoot them every year. BW
