Jacketed deer bullet for 30-06?

Deer are easy to kill.
I have killed deer with at least 10 different calibers and have seen my brothers use even more.

There are probably no bad bullets if you use one 150 grains to 180 grains. Skip boat tails

I would pick almost any flat base cup and core bullet around 165 grains.
Remington Core Lokts are very good.

If you're looking for dual purpose, I'd recommend bonded or partition for what it's worth.
The AccuBond bullet is a bonded bullet, that's why I suggested it. It's also less expensive than the Partition bullet which I would save for larger game. For Whitetail in the woods of Northeast Pa I like a 165gr Sierra Ganeking bullet.

As mentioned, most anything will work for deer. Remington Corelokts have long been available as a component bullet and I have handloaded a bunch of them with good results. Likewise the Hornady Interlocks. Used a Nosler 150 gr Ballistic Tip once with good results. Best deer bullet? I dunno, I read an article long ago by Roy Dunlap that the Speer 130 grain hollowpoint was the worlds best deer bullet for the 30/06. I loaded some up and went hunting. Deer hit the ground in a cloud of dust. Exit holes that you could stick a fist or the deer's heart through. Mr Dunlap claimed that it always exited on broadside shots.-It did indeed on the two deer I used it on. I went back to heavier bullets because I felt like they were more versatile in case I wanted to use the same load on heavier game but those Speer HPs were certainly DRT loads.

I tested the 165 partitions with 48 to 50.5 grains of varget in half grain increments. 49.5 grains was the highest charge that had moa accuracy, but truthfully all but one load would be good enough for deer and.elk at 300 yards.

I could go for more accurate bullets, but this will also be an elk load and the ability of the bullet to hold together matters.

For a 3006 out to 300 YDS any 150-180 grain bullet will do the job IMHO. Another vote for REM Corelokt's. I have used them for years with great results out to 300 YDS with great accuracy. They have no equal in their price range IMHO. I prefer the 180 grain but I admit that it is pretty much overkill on a deer of any size. Just find a bullet that is priced reasonably and get some for a load workup and go for it.:)

Remember, this is also an elk load. What would be ridiculous overkill for deer might just barely cut it for elk.
