My wife and I will be traveling to Jackson Hole,Wyoming in July. We plan to fly into Salt Lake city,Utah and drive a rental car onto Jackson. Can any of the members of this forum think of any gun related sights that I may visit on this trip. Thankyou for the help.-Cliff

If you're going to be heading north through Yellowstone, take the road east out of the national park and go to Cody, WY. The firearms museum at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center is one attraction you won't want to miss.

The Cody Firearms Museum houses the most comprehensive assemblage of American firearms in the world. The Winchester Collection, the heart of this museum, was transported from New Haven, Connecticut to Cody in 1976. Dedicated in 1991, the Cody Firearms Museum provides an expansive permanent home for the collection.

Agree with previous posters, both the Browning Museum and the Buffalo Bill Center are worth the trip.

Also the Museum at the Teton National Park Visitor's Center at Moose has a good depictiion from the fur trade era.

Besides, Teddy Roosevelt said the 53 miles from the park to Cody was the most scenic in the US.

Freedom Arms is located about 40-45 minutes due south of Jackson Hole. Last summer when we were out there, we drove down one day to visit. Unfortunately there's not an awful lot to see, but they were very friendly and tried to show us what they could. Had some demo models of their .454s that we could handle, as well as a neat cutaway .454 they had put together. Altogether we were there maybe half an hour or so, talking, watching their bear case video, and looking at some of the stuff they had in the lobby. If you're going south through Freedom at any point, it might be worth stopping by there just to visit.

You pass Ballard Rifle as you drive into Cody. An 1885 Highwall at a shade under $4000 will go nicely with the revolver you order during your stop in Freedom, WY. An alternative is Linebaugh Custom Sixguns in Clark, outside Cody off the Belfry Hwy. I see they've cut their wait time to six months.
