Greetings,

recently I acquired a 1911 pistol made by Bul of Israel. its a sub compact pistol with polymer frame.

it had very light trigger pull and hitting slide stop (without depression of grip safety) always caused hammer to drop in half cock position.

I fully dissembled pistol checked the internals and reassembled pistol but manual safety (not ambidextrous) when put in place required moderate force. after that the hammer moves freely obviously without any contact with sear and now it is impossible to remove safety. i tried to keep hammer manually in full cock position to remove safety but safety simply is stuck in frame.

first of all i need to disassemble pistol ... but it is impossible if I can not remove safety.

I have to find solution to this problem for myself since we don't have here a professional gunsmith. will appreciate any help or advice.

ps

Buls are known for very average fit. is it possible for badly fit safety to contact with sear and prevent a contact with hammer?

You installed the sear spring with the far left leg under the left sear leg instead of on top of it as shown in the picture.

Remove the mainspring housing and wiggle the sear spring out so you can remove the thumb safety.

Here's the way it should look...and be sure that the tab on the bottom of the sear spring is in the slot in the frame.

ok. sear spring removed but thumb safety is still stuck ... in off safe position. no movement. jiggling doesn't help

ok... looks like i cant take out this f...ing safety .... will go to the so called gunsmith and see if he can help..... or just sell this israeli crap as a parts kit.

I am desperate .... I do whatever possible to take safety out but it just doesn't work....

the fact I that i took apart and assembled this particular pistol dozen times and got no problems....

something is just blocking it in "safety off" position. it is sear or disconnector. both move when I touch thumb safety

yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

used long steel rod and just pushed it inside under the sear from the botoom of the farem and safety jumped on safe and removed it.

this damned pistol ruined my sunday but I am happy nevertheless :neener::neener::neener::neener::D

thank you Tuner :) and thank you fellow forum members... pistol is assembled ... I am happy. :)

I wasn't even up at 05:37 AM when you ask the question.
Or at 06:22 AM when Tuner took you under advisement..

Buy the time I was up, Tuner had the situation well under control as usual it seems. :D

Wellllll....

That sear spring causes trouble pretty often. As many as I've had my hands in, about a year ago I almost assembled one wrong. I caught it just as I slid the mainspring housing in, so I was spared some embarassment...but it's pretty easy to do if you're not careful.

Glad ya got it all squared away. ;)

Sear Spring

Never had that happen to me in dozens of tear downs! Now I'll watch for that since Lady Luck never sticks around forever. Was going to suggest jiggling the safety with a cocked hammer for removal. Thank you 1911Tuner. You are one of the reasons we show up here.
