Hi everyone, I have recently been looking at a JC higgins Model 80 handgun. From what I have been reading the gun was manufactured by High Standard for the company. I do not have much experience with these pistols, but this one seems to be in fairly decent condition.
I have a quick question regarding these pistols however, and a slight concern with the gun in general. Upon inspecting the left side of the gun I noticed in the barrel notch where the extractor makes contact with the barrel, the thinner metal of the barrel at that point is beveled from the contact. This bothers me because it is even thinner in this area then it would be because of the contact being made. I do not have the gun in hand at the moment to post pictures but will as soon as i get an opportunity.
I really wanted to know if this wear is normal on these pistols. It seems to be really well made. I searched the web but these pistols and their high standard brethren seem to not have many threads dedicated to this, which leads me to believe its either rare, or extremely common and a non issue. Thank you to everyone in advance for taking the time to answer this question.
