I have a J22 which I've had for forty years or more. I'm sure it has somewhere around 800 rounds through it. Works every time and is reasonably accurate. Firing slowly, I can hit coffee cup sized targets at 25 yards. I've carried it as a back-up for years. Problem is that the trigger pull must be fifteen pounds. Has anyone ever detail stripped one of these? Anyone have any suggestions besides stuff like, "Get rid of it."

A dozen years ago my neighbor had one. He stripped it to clean it after it fell in a mud hole. He had trouble and asked for help, and with some help from Google we got it back together. We never got it together exactly right though as it would occasionally string fire and dump the whole mag. Stripped it and reassembled it a few times trying to get that sorted out but it was always reliable to string a few every range trip. I saw that guy recently and he said he still pocket carrys that gun as well as a Taurus 85ch that I sold to him really cheap. I was hoping to buy the Taurus back, but he said his wife has took to carrying the Taurus occasionally.

From what I've read, the 22 versions seem to work; the .380 and 9mm tend to come apart. The .380 seems to break where the bbl is pressed into the frame.

The .380 was straight forward easy to take apart and reassemble; but you could see daylight all under the slide. Bbl is now my .380 plunk test and gauge.

Surely there are Yootube videos of the takedown process?

Then again, maybe not....

I have a J22. It's my bed side gun. It likes Rem golden bullets. My 380 did break at the back of the slide. It fell to many times. I had it under my keyboard tray in a sleeve. I need to call JA Industries and get the parts.

For a while, I was carrying a Jennings .22, and particularly when I was out on the motorcycle at night. It remains the one pistol I've actually drawn to defend myself, and... get this... the mere sight of it sent the punks in the other direction. True story.

FWIW, it wasn't a bad pistol, although with high velocity ammos it tended to dump burning powder on your hand. It was more reliable than some other far more expensive pistols I've had.

Knowing me, I'm sure I tore it down... but it's been a few years... about 30. :)

one thing learned about the 80’s Pocket Rocket .22 is… test with a bunch a .22’s and find what it likes…

then buy a Turus TX22 for $200 and call it day

People often laugh about the Jennings J22, but mine always worked with CCI Stingers and MiniMags. It was even accurate enough to win beer bets with co-workers.

The chrome plating was gaudy, the magazine seemed flimsy ...but my main carry gun was a H&K P7; mags don't get much stronger...and the sights were barely usable (being chromed). It wasn't as accurate as my .22LR Walther PP, but the trigger was a bit cleaner...it was more accurate than my Beretta 21A

I had one years ago. Load 3 rounds in the mag, and it worked fine. Any more and it was jam city. It never fired a full mag, no matter what the ammo. It also key holed every shot.
