Last Jan after deer season I took my old .270 Rem ADL in for a retro fit safety replacement. I hate the way the trigger acts now and started loking at replacing it with a Jewel. I' have other guns with Timney's but just thought I'd consider a Jewel. Anyone have any experieince with them.

I have one. I didn't even know of the brand until after I got it.

It is 3 way adjustable as the gun sits ready to shoot. You don't need to remove stock. It is 100% stainless. Jewell recommends no lube. Works fine. I can't say it is better than any other aftermarket trigger. The trigger has a pretty square edge that some people like.

I've always used Timney and have been very happy. Glad to hear you can't tell if it's better as I considered one for my newest rifle but at $100 more I passed.

Joed,
Just to clarify 'can't say' and 'can't tell' would be in a different context.
I have never compared the Jewell side by side to another. I have pulled on some rifle basix trigger and have no complaints about them. I have had the Jewell apart and it is something to see. Definitely quality. Probably the same could be said about other brands. The trigger has no play side to side and holds adjustments. Maybe one may last longer or have something that appeals to an individual. I would not be adverse to keeping a $100 either.

I replaced my 700's trigger with a Rifle Basix and am perfectly happy with it so far. It's only been 2 months but my general observations have been that it was (as delivered) nearly as crisp (mine was smithed and set to 3 1/2 lbs.) and of course lighter, breaking around 2 1/2 lbs. deadweight. Near zero overtravel.

For a hunting rifle it should do nicely at a fair savings over the Jewel. I specified pull weight with my order and Clay at RB was kind enough to send some replacement pins and hardware free of charge.

I certainly wouldn't overlook Jewel for a high quality build or precision rifle, it just seemed more than I needed or was desirable in a field rifle.

I've used Jewell and Timney triggers in 700's. I personally don't like the narrow sharp trigger blade on the Jewell. I actually prefer the Timney's even for benchrest. IMO a lot of people assume since the Jewell is more $$ it's better. Not for me.

I have Jewell triggers on 2 match rifles. They come set for a 1# pull, but are easily adjusted to anything between mere ounces to about 4#. They are the "
Cadillac" of triggers.

My Remington 700 .30-06 has a Jewell in it. I think it is a great trigger, do not mind the narrow shoe, and have had no problems. However....I have heard of others complaining that you need to keep these exceptionally clean, else they will not work properly. I use no oil on the trigger, keeping it clean with an occasional flush of lighter fluid.

I've read about the trigger shape and wondered if a trigger boot would help with the narrow-ness of it. I guess I've got a extra few bucks burning a hole in my pocket.

Just IMO but a Jewel is a bit over kill on a deer rifle trigger. As long as you have a good crisp, breaks like glass 3 lb. trigger on a deer rifle it's all you need. Save your Jewel trigger for a bench rifle.
