Ordered a Timney trigger model "The Hit". Adjusts from 8oz to 2lbs. Arrived today and I installed it on my Rem Model 700. Trigger feels real nice, great for varmint or bench shooting. This is the 3rd or 4th Timney trigger I've had but the others were hunting rifle pull weight. Plan on going to the range tomorrow and see if it will help on shrinking my groups. The factory trigger is a bit heavy but manageable, just required a bit too much of my old brain's concentration. I've had good luck with Timney triggers and the price wasn't bad at all, $195.

I used to shoot rimfire benchrest with 2oz Jewell triggers on my rifles so the 8oz Timney will not be a problem. I will be doing some informal local club bench shooting with the 700.

The Hit probably didn’t get the attention it deserved in the last year since release. It’s a Gen 2 (or maybe Gen 1.1) of the Calvin Elite design, with a bit better performance, but overall very similar specs. Until the CE/Hit, I have not enjoyed Timney 700 pattern triggers - the 510 makes me want to punch kittens every time I pull one. But the Hit is a great contender at its price point. I can’t say it’s Jewel HVR or TT Diamond good, but the Diamond isn’t coming home for $200 either.

I have a Calvin Elite on my Mausingfield. If The Hit is a better version I’ll definitely be interested

I have a couple 1.0 Calvin Elite triggers that I picked up used because guys were upgrading. They were a great value and work well for my needs. I do have a Jewell on a rifle, and it is better, but the Timney CE do well for the money paid and are a big upgrade from the factory.

I've got 2 Rem 700s - one a 1974 vintage in 30-06 and the other a 1966 vintage in 270. They look like twins - down to the same Leupold scope on each.

I installed Timneys on each of them. I adjusted each to 2.5 pounds which is my sweet spot. Both are sub- MOA with my handloads. Those Timneys are critical to accuracy.
