Iraq!!! Yeah!!!
I noticed in the 7.62x39 thread that jg sales was mentioned as a decent place to purchase ammo. I was wondering if anyone had any positive/negative feedback concerning their firearms sales. My eye was caught by their yugo sks, and my folks back home found a local dealer that does net gun transfers for a mere 25 bucks. As I have no practical way to buy anything around here (WaffenKarte paperwork takes years in germany), I've been looking for a way to have an SKS waiting for me when I take my 30 day post deployment leave. This seems to be my best option.

I'm pretty sure Classicarms.us has excellent condition SKS's much cheaper than JGsales. Might want to check there, too.

actually, i just peeked, and the prices are the same for vg. that's kinda what I'm after (I'm a sucker for beat up stuff), but I'll forward the link to my folks. You gotta understand, working something like this while i'm in germany, about to hit the sandbox, is difficult, but I'm trying to hit this before the prices skyrocket.

JG is a good company and have ordered a few things form them before. Spend the extra money on an exellent condition or like new if you can or at least pay the 10 extra bucks for hand pick on a good bore and gas system. Pitting on the exterior is only cosmetic, pitting in the bore and gas system and you have problems. And try to get a case of ammo if you can also (Who knows what ammo will be like when you get back).

Good luck.

I bought a WASR underfolder AK from J&G. Beautiful weapon, like new and ran like clockwork from day 1.

I've bought ammo and various accessories from them as well. Fast shipping and no problems.

Bought a PA-63 from them a couple weeks ago. Ordered on Saturday, was told that they were a little backed up and it would probably ship Wednesday, be there Thursday. (Not a problem with me) Turns out it shipped Monday, they must have been busy that weekend...

No complaints at all, I'd definitely order from them again.

I've purchased from them, they are pleasant to deal with, helpful, curteous and slooowww to ship.

I recommend you call, instead of purchasing online.

apparently, operators enter the internet orders, and when the phone rings a lot, they don't enter many internet orders, so you wait in line until *every* phone order is completed, before your order is placed.

J&G is local to me. I've had a lot of dealings with them at their store but none via their website or mail order. I've purchased at least 5 firearms from them and have been getting ammo and such since the days when you could get a case of 7.62x39mm for $79.95.

They are very reputable and their product descriptions are pretty accurate. Their inventory changes quickly from day to day. Before ordering anything from them, it would be wise to cal and verify that the item is in stock and the price hasn't changed.

I got my SAR-1 from them back in '99. No problems, fast shipping, product was as described. No complaints here.

Ive ordered there before, along with many other places. Never had a problem.

That aside, if the prices are the same I would highly suggest Classic Arms....those guys have gone above and beyond and are honest folks, especially when grading their rifles. Other places I have ordered from exaggerate condition fairly often.

I recieived one of the $59 Mosins yesterday. A'42 Tula in good shape, not counter-bored, good metal and wood. All in all, a good deal. But as stated above they are very SLOOOOOW to ship. If you're not in a hurry, I would buy from them again. But a call to verify might be worth your time. I was going to buy a Hex receiver MN, until I called and asked if they (the hex MN's) had ben counter-bored, they were. So I opted for a plain jane MN.
