John Kerry Wants To Ban Guns In America

Generally, I vote AGAINST candidates, not FOR them... The lesser of 2 evils is still evil, but our work to preserve RKBA requires us to seek the lesser of evils. How you define "evil" is up to you, but I know who I'm voting against in Nov. Bush is by no stretch of the imagination pro-freedom, but look at Kerry's record. Bush is taking a zippo to the Constitution, but Kerry will use a blow torch. Badnarik has a bucket of water standing by, but he won't get close enough in this election to use it. Presidents nominate/appoint judges, and judges decide what the Constitution means. Who do you want making these decisions?

Max, you're correct-I don't need your permission to vote any way I want. You want to start slinging silly labels like stupid does not bring people around to even considering your point of view-dictionary or not.

I know a little bit about a few people who died for our country-I was there when they died and I'm missing a few body parts because of being there. Does that qualify?

If it comes down between GW and Kerry, I'd much rather see GW get the nod, but if you don't mind, there are a few of us who would like to take a hard look at this. I have more confidence in Bush, but I also know that he has yet to use a veto on anything coming across his desk.
Would he veto a gun confiscation bill? I don't know.
Would he veto an extension of AWB? He has stated that he would sign it.
Thats what makes me nervous about the man.

Maybe it doesn't bother you, and if so, good for you-its rare that we have a candidate which closely fits our personal beliefs. But to call someone stupid is an insult. Might try looking that word up in your dictionary while you have it out.

But stupid me, I'm still voting for Badnarik!

Meaning, Kerry.

No. I mean what I say.

And there are still THR members who plan on voting for Kerry?? Unbelievable.

We're in a fight for our lives and liberties and some people are being distracted by bright and shiny objects.

It's not bright and shiny objects that are distracting me, it's the level to which all parties have sunk during this campaign and before. No wonder we're the laughing stock of the world. For the first time in my life I have no faith in the leadership of our country, no matter who wins. There have been Presidents I have'nt like, but I could at least look at them as being competent.

With Bush in the White House now we are screwed. If he is re-elected we will continue to be screwed. If Kerry wins we will just be screwed from a different direction.

If I do not vote for Bush, one of the reasons will be the Swift Boat Melee. This has been poltical trash at its most rancid. I dislike him for plenty of reasons, but I do not think the attacks on Kerry's military record are fair or relevent. I am guessing there are a fair number like me, who feel ashamed and alienated from the Republicans because of these tactics.

Kerry made his record a legitimate target by citing his Vietnam service as proof that he's not the nightmare on nat'l defense that he's proven himself to be via his voting record. The fact that much of his record is . . . suspect is again his own fault, much like Gore's honesty was undermined by his own lies. Kerry brought the subject up and opened the door. The Swift Boat Vets are just trying to slam it in his face.

Will you also refuse to vote for Kerry because Moveon.org compared Bush to Hitler? Will you refuse to vote for Kerry after he questioned and attacked Bush's military record? Will you feel alienated from the Democrats for their tactics, which included running attack ads during the RNC when the Republicans actually shut their ad campaign down during the Dem convention so as not to detract from it?

sendec, check out the campaign finance reform laws. The SwiftBoat group is just like moveon.org: 527 exemptions. I dunno what non-RNC group is funding SwiftBoat; I know that Soros (among others) is putting the money into the groups sponsoring such as moveon...

Interestingly, it is against the law for either Bush or Kerry to have any involvement whatsoever with these groups. You'll note that a campaign advisor of Bush' had to resign just for giving legal advice to somebody from the SwiftBoat group. And Bush has not spoken in approval of their ads; he has decried them.

No wonder we're the laughing stock of the world.

I doubt that we're a laughingstock to anyone outside of the coffeehouses in a few German and French European cities, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. cafeteria.

The rest of the World seems to have either a hatred of the US, which is a type of respect, or are mildly supportive with great respect for the sophistication of the US economy.

Yes, we're such a laughingstock that even Libya has given up its WMD programs and turned stool pigeon. Strange, isn't it, that France, Russia and Germany have largely shut up after Libya started cooperating? Maybe there was some deal? "Quit your griping or we'll reveal just how thoroughly you've been involved in illegal arms trading?"

This thread has reinforced my decision to vote for Badnarik. I don't appreciate being told what to do and I don't respond well to bullying and I really, really hate people shoving their beliefs down my throat. That's why I refuse to have anything to do with Christianity--the whole religion is based on forcing other people to believe in the religion.

Sorry you feel that way. It has never been my experience to have Christianity forced upon me. As a matter of fact, my family was non-practicing Protestant, almost athiest (no praying, no church, etc.). I became a Christian by the grace of God.

I would hope you would denounce all religions and not just the Christian faith seeing as how there are factions in all that try to force their beliefs upon others. Human beings kinda have a habbit of messing up religion that way.

In any case, Badnarik's my man too.

editted to add: BTW, I do not recall reading in The New Testament where it tells me to force Christianity on others. As a matter of fact, Matthew 13:3-9 says:
Then [Jesus] told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop--a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. He who has ears, let him hear."

I'm not a fan of any of the religions that descended from the Semetic tribal superstitions, nor am I a fan of either of the two major parties, though I tend to agree with the Republicans more than the Democrats (by the same token I tend to agree with the Jews more often than I agree with the Muslims or the Christians).

I do agree with the Libertarians almost across the board (like I tend to agree with most of what the Buddhists teach).

As for evangelism, it is a result of the Pauline texts rather than the Synoptic Gospels. I could support a religion based on the Gospels, but in my experience, Christianity ain't it.

But back to the subject, I have never in my life been more disgusted with politics than I am right now. The only reason I am voting at all is to vote against the DFL fascists in the Minnesota state legislature. When it comes to the presidential race, it will either be Badnarik or None of the Above.

Distracted?

Well this IS a gun board, dontcha' know?:neener:

I think OTHER political issues distract from THIS board's focus: RKBA
