Statement by John McCain on the DC Gun Ban Case before the Supreme Court

Contact: Press Office, 703-650-5550; www.JohnMcCain.com

ARLINGTON, Virginia, March 18 /Standard Newswire/ -- U.S. Senator John McCain today issued the following statement on District of Columbia v. Heller:

"Today, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on District of Columbia v. Heller, a landmark case for all Americans who believe as I do that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms. I am proud to have joined in an amicus brief to the Court calling for a ruling in keeping with the clear intent of our Founding Fathers, which ensures the Second Amendment rights of the residents of District of Columbia are reaffirmed."

John McCain will let you have anything you want as long as it's got a lock on it and it's a single-shot rimfire.

Ratzinger p38 says it best. I suspect McCain will be the best gun we have to bring to a gunfight.

Which, IMO, means we can expect at least a gunshow loophole law passed in the name of bipartisanship should we even be lucky enough to have McCain elected.

If Osama or Hitlery is elected--or god help us, both, along with coattails Bill. All bets are off.

Jim H.

Glad to see he disagrees with Bush. McCain was right about the troop levels in Iraq earlier on.

I wonder if McCain was the GOP candidate in 2000, would we be in the mess we are now?

Thanks, Karl Rove for being the unethical DB that guided Bush to the White House.

The NRA gives him a C. GOA gives him a F.

I think all of the cheap shots have already been taken so I don't have anything funny to say. Sorry.

We don't want any allies who aren't 100% true believers in everything all of us believe. For us "better" is not "best," and "good enough" is never the same as "perfect."

We might think that a Hi-Point or Jennings is just as good as a Colt, that a Vega is superior to a Rolls-Royce, and that a Timex beats a Rolex, but when it comes to a Presidential election in which the intelligent goal is to defeat Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton we won't vote for anyone less than the ideal candidate.

The NRA gives him a C. GOA gives him a F.

The F is thanks to the unconstitutional McCain-Fiengold Incumbent Protection Act

My comment was actually a bit sarcastic - McCain spends most of his time 'reaching across the aisle' to those on the left, to the point where you wonder what side of the aisle he is actually on.

Also remember McCain voted against the AWB

Which one? The original 94 one, or the failed AWB II in 04?

Guys, we've got a choice.

McCain or Hilbama.

Now, one of these is a member of a party that consistently blocks intrusive gun control. And the other is a member of a party that consistently tries to smother us in laws that do nothing to stop crime, but which attempt to make criminals of ordinary folks.

Every person who abstains or votes for Mickey Mouse is one less vote that Hilbama needs to get.

Everytime I read or hear something like this it reminds me that we need poll tests again.

Voting for anything but what your morals dictate is un-American.:barf:

There is a lot not to like about McCain

A whole lot.

We need to create a new Conservative Party.
I'm willing to help with that.

McCain has my vote in 08.
He may want to sign a "loophole" law, but it has to get to his desk first.
If we win Heller, watch for a revival of gun ownership, as inner city minority people start buying.

Well - McCain did more than Hillary and Obama so, a little repsect. I realize he's not a true believer but I welcome his support just the same.

I know McCain voted against the latest AWB attempt; I believe he voted against the original AWB also.

I am sure this thread will get locked but I am going to post anyway.

McCain is not perfect but he is electable. He is far better than the other two. Would I rather see Romney or Thompson sure I would but those are not my options. Plus lets not forget that when McCain wins he will know that he owes a lot to the conservatives so our gun rights wont be hurt any more. I actually think that if he wins we can at least expect National Park carry not sure about much else.

Agreed. I cannot vote for someone who says we could be in Iraq for . . . ever. According to some here, my choices are pretty much either: endless drain on our troops and economy, or disarmament and an unconstitutional national healthcare program (i.e. more economic drain).

The problem I have with McCain on guns and other issues is the not only is he unpredictable, he delights in being unpredictable.

Maybe when he is at the top of the party he'll suddenly realize how destructive it is to have a Benedict Arnold on the team always thumbing his nose at the party core. You would think as a Navy officer he would have understood the basics of followership and leadership, loyalty, etc. He must have at the time but a lifetime in the senate seems to have fried his brain. Just like Dole I hear McCain now bragging how leadership is all about compromise. Right.

McCain may be the nominee of the party which has done the most for our RKBA, but that may be exactly the reason he flips once in office and betrays us. I would feel a lot better about him if there had been bills named McCain-Lott, McCain-Brownback, McCain-Craig, etc.

Dole be the leading Republican sure didn't prevent him from sneaking the AWB through during the Thanksgiving recess. McCain reminds me a lot more of Dole than Reagan.

Bottom line, if McCain was some just Joe in town and acted so unpredictably I would not associate with him. I don;t have time in my life for people that have fun betraying friends for their own ambition. Why then would I want him to "stand in the door" for me?

Reach across the aisle to us Johnny! Throw us some meaty bones like you do for the liberal globalists.
