So, my old lady got on me about one or the other being the better man. I argued and we decided the community would be a better judge than either of us.

Who would win in any sort of battle. Good old Wayne, or uppity Eastwood?

IBTL.

I voted for John Wayne as the better man.

I like Clint Eastwood's westerns a little better though. Darker, and a more complex, (human), character (usually)... IMO

Can't vote i'm afraid. Except for being good guys, they are very different. They each have pretty awesome styles, the movies wouldn't be the same without them.

Sorry to incite agitation. Was intended to be fun and light hearted.

I have always been a fan of both actors, but have always leaned towards the great JW after watching hundreds of his movies. My collection of both actors nearly encompasses their collective works. Although I have some gaps, the bookshelves I have devoted to them both is fairly heavy. If this thread is out of line with the views of THR than by all means lock/delete it.

Thanks,

Hmm, Well Wayne's movies are more heroic. Whereas Eastwood's are more antihero.

I like grittier western's but I also like Wayne's "classic" model.

My dad prefers Wayne, because when he was going to USC, John Wayne's limo pulled up and offered hiim and his buddies a ride after a football game so he gets points. I'm afraid I can't vote on this one. Due to fear that whoever I don't vote for will appear in my house and beat me up :D

It would be a draw. John Wayne would holler and start bossing old Clint Eastwood around, like he does to everyone in all his movies, because he is the boss. Eastwood would scowl and make some smart alecky comment all gritty like. Then The Duke would holler some more and threaten to dispatch old Eastwood in an old codgery manner. After Eastwood's "make my day" sort of answer a tussel would insue, each man giving as well as he got. Then there would be a grand gunfight and both men would get shot to pieces, but limp away and be ok in the end. Both of their horses would probably get shot from underneath them too.

John Wayne, then, absolutely. Vote or die sitin' there you pilgrims!

Nothing against Wayne but Eastwood all the way. Eastwood's the better shot anyways. Just look at the last one in "The Good the Bad and the Ugly"

How would I know?

That I know of, neither ever raped, robbed or murdered anybody.

They're both actors. Actors are sometimes entertaining. In the greater scheme of things they're not important.

Neither was or is a Carlos Hathcock, a Dick Bong or an Alexander Graham Bell.

Eastwood... much more quote-able these days. Nobody quote Wayne anymore unless its a Full Metal Jacket scene.
