In the new movie John Wick 4, John has a shotgun and when he hits a target the target bursts into flames. Is this just movie Bs or does such a shell exist? Also the shotgun is magazine loaded. If you have seen the movie what is the shotgun he is using?

The ultimate close quarters movie gun would be the AA-12 from The Expendables loaded with the Dragon's Breath rounds .:)

I can do that with my short Auto-5 but, you know... just 5 rounds is lacking in effect... :D

Passing through Salmon Idaho about 2-3 years ago on my way to Gibbonsville for some motorcycle R&R I stopped at an ammo dealer in town…they manufactured brass ammo.

Picked up a couple of 5 round packs of Dragons Breath for a price I don’t remember but it wasn’t nowhere’s near $10 a round. Think it was closer to $20 for the pack.

Have yet to shoot any. Was more a novelty purchase for shooting in dead of winter to preclude setting the countryside on fire during dry summer months.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it’s corrosive and to make sure to clean the gun soon after shooting it.

Dragon's Breath I have encountered depends on who made it when.
A. a flash bang grenade charge in a shotgun shell, or
B. a sparkly loud pyrotechnic display in a shotgun shell.
I have only fired one and that was over a snow covered field.
At roughly 7 meters a number 6 birdshot shell will do more damage to a target than than Dragon's Breath.
But if used as an alternative to a flash bang grenade it is stunning surprise

I'd probably just use #4 buck in that Gen 12 but the top down dragons breath CQB scene was pretty fun to watch actually. I don't know that I'd want to shell out what they're asking for that shotgun though or go through all the NFA paperwork.

I'm pretty sure I watched a garandthumb video a ways back and I think he reviewed that AR pattern shotgun (which I usually sneer at) and was left with the feeling that it might not be that much of a pos. It seemed reliable and he was able to get on target fast and crank pretty good with it......little to no recoil too

I'm not a fan of John Wick but at least he reloads in the middle of firefights. Several times I counted shots fired and right about the time he should run dry he would re load.

Like others have said, my guess is that it's a Dragon's Breath round. My understanding is that it's a "novelty" round (in no way does this mean that I would want to be hit by it). Also, how was the movie? I love the franchise. In general, I love action movies. I'm just an average guy, not the type of guy to call a movie a "film" :barf:

I liked it but didn't like the ending spoiler alert

The question has been answered and the thread has wandered primarily into general movie opinion instead of on guns, ammo, and shooting realism. Since we're not a "love/hate XYZ movie" forum we'll just thank everyone that answered the OPs question about the Dragon's Breath.
