Joined the 642 Club Today!

Just picked up a used (Nov 2004) 642-2, today!
Can't wait to clean it up with CLP & try it out.
It's been shot by the previous owner, but looks good.

Pre +P?

Question - When did .38+P ammo become OK for the 642? I saw a used one, pre-lock that read .38 Spl on the barrel, NOT .38+P? Pre-lock would be '01 or older, right?
