I will admit for a while I was at odds with the NRA on a few issues and did not renew my membership. Of late I have seen that I needed to rejoin the ranks and support our 2nd amendment rights. I did and was supprised how fast the money was taken from my account. Now as to hearing from the NRA with so much as an e mail well thats a diffrent story. It's been a few months now and I am still waiting for some response. Oh I have started to receive junk mail from political folks wanting me to support (READ DONATIONS) their fight for my 2nd amendment rights. Nothing from the NRA though. Just wondering if this is common practice or should I start trying to find out whats going on. Any thoughts?

P.S. I know I'm going to catch heck from some folks on here but thats what it's about doing what ya believe in. NUFF SAID

Every year when I renew I receive a barrage of things from the NRA in fairly short order, as I recall. Discounts, benefits, etc. You may want to call.

Meanwhile ... we're very glad to have you back !

Give it some time.....when ever anti-gun legislation is in the works gun owners panic and join in droves. They handle thousands of applications each week. Could take 6-8 weeks depending on load.

When Heston was President they jumped from three to four million members, applications were coming in at 4000 a day.

Wow. I just joined last week and I got my packet in the mail today with my membership card, stickers, insurance registration card and such. I let my membership lapse four or five years ago too. Just rejoined. I'd call if I were you.

I joined today (as related in a separate post, I was happy to be "bribed" with a hat and free admission to the gun show in Harrisburg -- "bribed" quoted because it's something I'd been intending to do anyhow).

The NRA is *NOT* my favorite gun rights orgzn; I think GOA and JPFO are both miles ahead. I'll be sending them each some money eventually, too. I'm ambivalent about some things the NRA's done, in fact. So why join? Partly for the information stream I anticipate, partly because even if it's not my favorite, I'd like some at least semi-aggressive gun org (which is the category I'd put NRA into) to have one more member the next time it's mentioned by handwringing fearmongers. "Nope, sorry -- 4.3 million *and one*!" Also, because when people complain about the NRA controlling the orbit of the moon, somehow "rigging" the political landscape etc, I'd like to be able to point out that ordinary people like me are the ones who give them money, and at least in my case it's specifically to be able to fight against very aggressive adversaries, and we wouldn't do so if we didn't think our rights were threatened.

I'll stick with GOA or the JPFO.
Let see. Recently (couple years ago), the NRA kept the Senate from renewing the AWB. More recently, they were instrumental in getting the city of New Orleans slapped down for confiscating weapons.

Could someone remind me what the GOA or JPFO has done for us ? I'm not saying they haven't done anything, I'm just saying I haven't heard about it.

Have they done anything other than proclaim themselves Uncompromising ?

Several months ago I started a thread here regarding NRA enrollment turnaround time. I signed up via a gun show in mid March. Finally got my membership packet in mid May. Others have also said it takes 8-12 weeks, so my wait seems typical.

I haven't started receiving the magazine yet. The NRA told me it usually starts about 4 weeks after receiving the membership packet, so it should be here soon.
