I would be surprised that 6 lbs of powder would "explode" if it was in the original container.
The press they showed didn't appear to be blackened , but the powder tube was missing.
Only a guess, but I could imagine a slight natural gas leak and maybe a primer popped.....
Only speculation on my part.....
 
I sincerly doubt if reloading, reloading components caused that explosion. I would bet that a gas leak or the like was present and he just happened to be reloading at the time of explosion. Of course the biases news media leaned heavily on the reoading aspect, and conveniently omitted any other possibility...

And because that narrative doesn't go along with any of the fire fighting videos that are posted on loaded ammunition or reloading components
