I don't have a clue about this shotgun except for the fact it is brand new in box, 28", grade 1, 16ga, vent rib, and has screw in invector chokes. The serial is 51*** pp 221. I would like to know anything about it as I figure I got a good deal on it but would love to know anything I could about it.

Pictures, Pictures....Please. I would love to own one. I've shot one that a work friend owns and as far as I'm concerned they named it right. It was sweeeeeet. They aren't in production again are they? I assume yours was a rare find to be NIB. Congratulations on your purchase. :)

I'm trying to find brownings serial decoder so I can see exactly how old it is. Yeah, it's older...I just wish the box was as nice as the gun...kinda tattered but still the original box.

I looked at the list in the back of the Blue Book late last night and did not see a range of serial numbers that looked anything like yours. Are there any letters other than "pp"?

The administrator may allow you to use the attachment feature of this forum, which gives you the ability to attach files of certain types to your posts. This could be an image, a text document, a zip file etc. There will be a limit to the file size of any attachments you make.

To attach a file to a new post, simply click the [Manage Attachments] button at the bottom of the post composition page, and locate the file that you want to attach from your local hard drive.

After posting, the image attachments may display a thumbnail, depending on the forum settings. To view the contents of the attachment (if it is not already displayed) simply click the filename link that appears next to the attachment icon.

Try this, it works for me. :)

Thanks for the help. I hadn't posted pictures to anything since high school so I tried some different things until I remembered you had to use a direct link. I think I am gonna take some better pictures later this evening and see how the post out. Thanks to T ray for trying to fix my messed up post.

It looks like they reintroduced the sweet 16 from 1988 to 1992, mine would be the 1988 introduction. Not sure what this means for value, but it still is new.

Very nice, They were made in Japan during that period, as best as I can tell from the little research I've done. Having the Invector Choke system is a real plus. I'm envious, enjoy it. :)

John, your not reading the bluebook correctly.....

The Sweet Sixteen was made in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale (FN) from 1937 until 1976 (with time off for WW2) and then by Miroku in Japan from 1976 to 1997 when production ceased.

I feel pretty lucky to come across my only two shotguns, this one and a model 1 super x custom shop trap gun (which I shoot the heck out of). Scary thing is that I only have 750 dollars between the two of them...both in perfect shape. I never really cared about shotgunning until I came across the super x for super cheap, bought it as an investment then couldn't resist the temptation to shoot some trap...now I am in love. Both have been purchesed in the last 3 months...hope to find a smoking deal on an O/U to fit in the collection.

Mine does have the rounded grip like the citori's and such....is this an option on these

I want to know where you shop. I could use some deals like that. or are you just one of those people that the gods smile on and things land in your lap?

I would like to think God is smiling down on me, but really it's just been right place right time. The SX1 was offered to me as a Rem 1100. The gentleman said he had two 1100's that he would let go for 400 each, the other one was an 1187 premier with the duck scene engraved on the side (wasnt sure whether 400 was worth it or not) but upon opening the SX1 case I couldn't help myself.
The browning was a aquaintence of a friend who just said he had a brand new browning auto for sale, lo and behold it was a sweet sixteen....325 wasn't too much I figured.
