Well.... First off...

What do I have to do to get the magazines to drop-free??? Does this require modification of the mag, the weapon, or can I just buy new mags?

"Standard" capacity magazines....

Where can I acquire the 15rd. magazines these days... anyone know of any deals going on?

What kind of Kydex does everyone recommend??? I'm looking to use this for IDPA... and the Comp-Tac looks good... anything else I should consider for a CZ?

I LOOOOVE this pistol thusfar... just need to get "up" on my CZ knowledge a bit more.

Well........nice gun. THR is a stellar place to sort out your CZ quest but the CZForum is THE place for CZ heads. www.czforum.com

Anyway......the mag brake is what you need to rework. Take off your grips and youll see it....its a flat piece of steel behind the mags. Youll need a punch to get it out......on some they kinda stuck the bottom of them in the main spring also. Youll see when it comes out. Punch the top pin that hold it in place and see if it comes out. If not, then you need to punch out the main spring pin at the bottom of the grip housing to get it out the rest of the way. Get it out of the frame and straighten it out so its flat by bending it. Now cut about 1/8" off of the bottom tang of it also. Reinstall it and Poof......drop free mags.

You can PM me if you run into problems.......................

CZ hi caps are very common and run 35-45$ each typically. Check the classifieds at the CZForum and youll find them.

Kydex for the CZ is very common. There is a guy who shoots competition on the CZ forum that goes by "Glock Guy" and he makes very nice stuff from kydex. Look him up and Im sure hell make you just what you want.

You should also consider Hakan Grips......if you really love your gun and its a CZ so you have too.........you want only the best for it. :D

Shoot well and congrats on the gun..................

Thanks guys... I'm proud to have one... this is great!

I just started browsing on the czforum this evening... just finished reading on the magazine break, etc.

I may just call CZ and order the flat brake... don't want to screw up the one I have...

I'll poke around there some more for some "standard caps."

Thanks again!
Tom

Don't flame me if this all goes terribly wrong but after September those 40$ mags may be cheaper.....no AWB. Possibly sooner.

Also CZforum and THR=good folks

If you do get a hi cap or two you will have good results with the CZ factory mags. I have 1 promag knockoff that will not work 100% of the time, so it's a range only item. FYI

And congrats.

If you have the same luck most CZ owners have, you got a dandy "marksmanship tool".

I saw some of the HBE stuff up on CZForum... looked like very nice work.

I'm a big Kydex guy though... so that will probably be my route.

But for the professional "Deputy Sheriff" look I may need in a few months...I'll look at him for leather for the off-duty sidearm If I need it.... :)

Also check out CZ's compact versions, the PCR or P01. Perfect for concealed carry and 14 rounds of 9mm with normal capacity magazines. Both of them great, accurate guns, just like the 75B.

I just got this last Friday.

I emailed CZUSA about the magazine break and how much it would cost for a new straight one and they sent me a reply explaining the procedure. It was very simple and it looked like it would be difficult to screw up.

As far as mags go, www.fourfourmag.com has brand new factory preban 15 round mags for $24. I ended up ordering two. I also ordered a 15 rounder from Cheaper Than Dirt. I will compare the two just for kicks.

I bought a CZ 75B for IPSC Production Division. The rules are about the same as IDPA SSP. I made the following modifications:

Straighten the brake.
Reduced power Wolff mainspring.
Increased power (10%) Wolff magazine springs.
Polished the weld on the back of the magazine tubes.
Stippled the grips with the tip of a hot soldering iron.
Added some "skate board" tape to the frontstrap.
Did some internal polishing on the under side of the slide to prevent the top round in the magazine from moving forward.
Stretched my cheap Fobus holster a tad (Fobus works but there are better options).

That's all it took to get a pretty decent gamer gun going.
