A Remington 1187 12 gauge followed me home from the sporting goods store. It has a 28 inch barrel. This is my first shotgun. I plan to go hunting for upland birds, water fowl and small game. Maybe even deer hunting using slugs.

I think I got a good deal - $549.95 plus tax. Going to the skeet range later this week to try it out.

Congrats. Sounds like a decent price. Don't forget to clean the gun up good before shooting it, especialy the gas system under the fore stock. Get all the sticky lubr off then lightly oil and wipe off excess. Check that the choke tube is tight, and keep checking as you shoot at least at hte end of a full round of skeet. Have fun.

txgolfer45: Nice gun!

I have its long-ago predecessor -- a Remington Sportsman 58. On the old ones, you have to "dial" the gas pressure (a/k/a "dial a duck") for different loads. It's a little finicky, but it swings very well and hits the birds when I treat it right.

That gun will be both an heirloom and a good solid performer. I think you'll enjoy it.

Congrats and Mazeltov on the new toy. Clean it up as the guys said and BA/UU/R.

You're going to have a lot of fun with that...

I disassembled it last night and gave it a good cleaning and lubrication. It's all ready for the range or field. Supposed to go to the range later this week with a buddy.

P.S. BA/UU/R???

The McC-Mantra:

Buy Ammo,Use Up, Repeat....

Just a catchy little phrase meaning one needs to shoot more than they need to buy the latest bell or whistle. Go shoot the thing, and let it teach you to shoot it better....
