I saw that ad and was tempted myself but i don't like brass frames. But it's a wonderful deal.

I'm waiting for a sale on their 1858 SS target-sight gun. But I suspect there's a shortage and the sale will never happen.

I am glad you are happy with your new toys.

I have a Pietta 1851 Navy "tail" steel with a squareback TG [2014 CM]. I also have a Pietta Griswold and Gunnison [2015 CN] which has a different TG, backstrap, and wood configuration from the "tail" revolvers, and can be exchanged as a 3-piece group between pistols, but not exchanged piece by piece.

I like Piettas for the price and the quality, but my Pietta 1851's are .36 caliber. My next purchase will be a Pietta 1851 Navy steel frame round trigger guard to round out my mix and match collection, so as to have a 1851 Navy 2nd Model, an 1851 Navy 3rd Model, a Griswold & Gunnison, a Leech & Rigdon, a Schneider and Glassick, and many other fantasy combinations.

Good luck with your .44's, but I am not into 1851 Navy .44 "copies".

I got this 1851 Navy, "No Tail" 36 for $179 at Cabelas just before Thanksgiving. It is very tight, perfectly timed and shoots to point of aim at 25 yards. That's with 18-21 grains of 3F, lubed wad and .380 ball.

yep and I just called and started a dispute with them over that $10 as it was just this morning at 4am before I went and had cataract surgery on my left eye that I saw they dropped it another $10 so I called them this afternoon once I got home! so hopefully they'll credit back the $10, waiting on a call now to see what they'll do!

The only reasons I got the Pietta G&G brasser is for the Dragoon style barrel and the barrel, cylinder, and wedge all interchange effortlessly from pistol to pistol. I am not a fan of brassers, but it is a modern day replica of a Civil War Confederate made pistol on a similar Colt 1851 frame. I can use the barrel to create a Leech & Rigdon once I procure another Pietta 1851 Navy steel with a round TG without removing the squareback TG from my Pietta 1851 Navy 2nd Model.

I bought my last one for $199 two Christmas's ago and am awaiting a sale. It may be a while. Saving my money...

yep I understand but I called cabelas and they told me they would send me a $10 gift card in the mail in 10 days! wow I wonder why it takes sooo long!

plus ups misrouted my pistol as it supposed to be here Thursday but they sent it to Sidney ne, from commerce Colorado, so I bet its Friday now as the delivery time is now not posted like it was last night! :(

@midland man:

Just keep those eagle eyes open for a sale on a Pietta 1851 Navy .36 steel for me. :)

One brasser (G & G) is enough for me. With my bad eyes, I don't shoot them, just collect them. I still see very well (so far!) at arm's length and out to 10 yards.

Jim

okay jim sure will infact I am also interested when money builds back up to get a 36c myself so I can see what all the fuss is about lol! :)

here she is just off the brown truck!!

my new pietta brass framed 44c fantasy revolver! :) lol you guys whats funny is theres a warning in this box that says not to use over 25grs max charge of bp in the 44c and the 36c not over 16grs of bp, due to the brass frame bein soft, I wonder why in the past they didn't tell people that before? :what:
