I wandered into my local Turners and was looking for a new toy. I stumbled onto a cz 75b in 40. I liked the gun and it fit my hand well but I left to sleep on it. I took the wife with me later that night for a second opinion and she too liked it. I was going to walk out and do some research on this pistol when my wife told me to buy the gun so we could get on with our day. I bought a set of dies from the classified section this morning and I am looking forward to shooting the cz. Other than shooting the heck out of it is there anything I need to know about this pistol, tips or best practices.

No secrets to them really. I think you're right on the money when you say shoot the heck out of it ;) Know that sometimes the trigger is a bit rough out of the box and that this will smooth out the more you shoot it (dry firing can help speed this along).

If you're looking to have any work done on it, I can highly recommend Cajun Gun Works, which is run by a member of this forum who happens to be a CZ guru (and a great guy to work with). The CZ Custom Shop is also great to work with - I own two of their custom pistols.

Edit: Forgot to say - Congratulations on the new purchase! Be that makes a nice XMAS present ;)

By most accounts the 75Bs in 40 are among the most accurate of all .40 calibers guns.

I think you will be well pleased.

My wife told me to buy the gun so we could get on with our day...

Now that's kind of woman I want...

Congrats on the CZ. I have a 2075 Rami, a 75BD, and a 40P. All very nice guns.
The 75 BD rides well in a Comp-Tac IWB holster and provides serious concealed carry firepower.

my dad "borrowed" mine if that tells you anything. I like mine, very accurate and reliable, has never jammed out of over 1000 rounds.

Thanks for the replies. I just went to visit it today, nine more days before it leaves jail. Does anyone know where to purchase factory mags, there are none at my local stores

You have a fine piece of woman, take good care of her since she's taking good care of you. ;)

Just got myself a 75B as well, but in 9mm, a couple of weeks ago. Since we're both in CA, I'llwarn you that the 9mm reduced capacity mags may be finicky for you, I've had some feed issues that CZ says are probably the mags. I think the normal capacity 40 is 10 rounds, so you won't have that problem.

Give a range report when you get it. I personally find myself holding mine and walking around the house with it. I just like to look at it and hold it. Kind of like being a teenager and discovering sex... you suddenly find yourself fondling things constantly and feel this overwhelming urge to take it for a spin several times a week. ;)

I'm trying to decide if I should get the 75B in 40 (nickel) or if I should get the P06 in 40, or if I should skip 40 and get the 97B in 45. I have this funny feeling I'll end up with all of them, though. ;) It's my favorite gun to shoot, hands down.

I had given up on the .40S&W round and had sold all my guns in that caliber. I then shot a CZ40 and it handled that round so well I had to buy one. I am very happy with my decision because I really love the .40S&W round for what it was designed for. To me, the CZ makes it feel like a 9mm due to it's design. I believe it has to do with the slide inside the rail design and low bore axis. Recoil is more like a push, like the .45ACP than the snappy, muzzle flip that seemed to be the norm. I love the .45ACP caliber and my CZ has made me like the .40S&W as much.

Congrats on your purchase. I hope you are satisfied. BTW, great wife you have there!

HI, the 75B .40 cal has a full lug barrel,

but most companies like High Noon
have had holsters for that for a number of years now.

Just ask Michael about the .40 caliber if you order and mention me.
