I just won a Henry lever action in .22 WMR in a raffle. The gun is brand new, in the box and everything. I have to say, I have a Winchester 94 and this gun is superior in quality and build. The tolerances are almost exact.

The only problem I have is that .22 WMR ammo is freaking expensive. Almost if not just as much as centerfire ammo.

So what is the overall opinion of these guns? And moreover, the .22WMR as opposed to the .22LR, which I am most used to shooting.

I'll put some pics up when I get home.

.22 mag ammo runs from about $6.50 for fiocchi to about $13. for the high end stuff and thats for 50 round boxes. My neighbor has a .22 henry lever which is a great shooter. Take the money you saved on the rifle and get yourself some cheap ammo and go hunting. Shoot it like you stole it.

I have one, and it isn't very accurate, but as far as I can tell, I must be the only Henry owner who isn't totally delighted. I do like the balance and feel of it, and its light trigger. Good-looking, and fun to shoot.
Try the prices at 22ammo.com; you may find a good bargain there. I got a bunch of PMC Predators at a good price.
Have fun with it!

I love the 22WMR ammo. Shoots a lot flatter than 22lr. I have always said the 22WMR is what the 22lr should be.

The rifle you have is one I have considered for 22WMR. Good quality and value.

Congrats on the new rifle and enjoy the heck out of it!

I can buy about 500 .22LR for the price of 50 Mags, almost if not more fun to me. With a 22 rifle outdoors I don;t even use hearing protection and if I wanna reach out an touch things I usually use my 223 over my 22 mag. I can reload 223 about the same price as buying 22 mags. Not trashing the mag it is a nice round but these are my personal preferences.

I can (and do) buy a variety of 22wmr's at the gunshows for about $4.95/50. Great varmint round, much flatter than the 22lr and enough poop to take on yotes.

Hell, get one in both calibers!

My Princess' love their's. I'm going to get one of the BIG BOYs in 357.

BTW, get a MARBLE's tang peep sight for it. Worth every penny.
