Scope suggestion Henry 22 wmr lever

Those octagon barrels are sweet! I thought about getting a Small Game model (It came with octagon barrel and a Skinner peep mounted) when I was first scouting the Henry’s out, but I got such a good deal on the WMR...and then a huge sale popped up locally on the regular and youth standards... I went round instead.

Excellent choice .

Stay safe.

Find a secondhand Weaver or Leupold in 4x or 6x for a really sleek look. I used that Leupold LPVO because I already owned it and it mated well to .357mag. That same Henry now wears a Zeiss Terra 2-7x32mm that’s not overpowering from a visual standpoint.

ALL rifles deserve good glass. SOME rifles simply don’t call for it from a more pragmatic standpoint. Everyone has a viewpoint on what constitutes “good” or good enough. This youth single-shot for instance wears a Tasco, bought used for $20. At the time I purchased it, the Simmons 4x .22Mag was $22 brand new (it wore one before swapping in the Tasco).

Either suited the rifle fine, but the Tasco, despite its age was nearly as bright, just as crisp image quality, and tracked far far better.

Well, the local (60 miles away) did get in a few Henry's. They had the blued round and octagonal barrel and the golden boy in 22 mag. Was hoping to see the silver one. No luck. Bought the blued octagonal, which is also about 2 inches longer than the round barrel - even though I liked the sights on it better..
Odd to see such a big store with only a few boxes of any metallic cartridges in stock.
Anyway, I did not handle any scopes. That will probably be a yule purchase. I did not see any scopes that matched the image I wanted in their display cases. Don't recall a single non-variable power scope.

Congrats on the new Henry!

I am seeing different approach to mounting. I would kind of like to use the groove mount for the scope, but it looks like some mount a rail on top of the groove and use that to mount.
Definitely more challenging that I thought to find a single power 4x or 6x scope.

I did run across an older 4x redfield scope that appears to be in good condition that might fit the bill. Not a bad price either.

That looks nice. If the pics of the glass look good, you probably ought to jump on that.

From what I can tell, available new scopes in 4x are either well under $100 or $200 and above. Nothing much in between right now.

Here's a Korean made Bushnell for $70, but has a shotgun style reticle. https://www.opticsplanet.com/bush-rs-bnr-710432.html

Of course, there's always Leupold. Matte version in link, no matter what first photos show. https://www.opticsplanet.com/leupold-fx-i-4x28mm-rimfire-rifle-scope.html

On my tiny CZ 452 Scout I like my old Leupold FX-II 4X rimfire special, a fantastic little scope that 'looks right' on a small rimfire.
Fine cross hairs and focused for rimfire distances, super clear and bright.

I have come back to that scope a couple of times during my searches. Read a couple of reviews and they were all good. Pricing seems OK, wish it was less as always. At 9" long, I like the compactness on my small-framed Henry.

You know, this made me remember the imported WolfPup sold by GruBee. Only 3/4" tubes.

Supposedly clones of old 3/4" tube Baby Redfields.

The WolfPups are a curiosity, but I've never put my money down to try one.

Well heck that just threw my plans for a loop.
Wished they were actually made in Durant, OK. Spent many a summer there as a kid vacationing at Lake Texoma.

I’m in step with the sentiments of redneck2 and CraigC.

I like 7x-9x at the top end on a rimfire cuz the vast majority of my shots are at really small objects.

Iron sights are neat but there comes a time when most of us need a scope-even on a lever gun. If it were my rifle I’d put a VX-Freedom Rimfire Scope, 2-7 or 3-9, or a Clearidge on it.

still considering the grubee scope, but bought a Redfield 6x locally. not great mounts, but what I could find locally.
now I can't find my bore sight kit.
don't want to remove the rear iron sight, but it does allow for the lower mount.

i have the Henry .22 mag , and i put a holo style sight the kind that projects the retical , i cant recall the exact name battery operated low profile no magnification its not too big and works well

My .22 WMR has a 2x7 Leupold compact. Perfection properly paired. IMHO of course.

Bought my grandson a youth model .243 Henry Single Shot last year. It has a Burris 2x7 on it. I had the devil's own time finding decent fixed power scopes as
I was originally thinking fixed 4x. Thus the Burris.

Henry's are nice. Your .22 WMR with 6x Redfield will be great! Good luck with both.

Minus the scope the Henry did well at the range today....provided I wasn't shooting 17 hmr. no bueno trying to get scope on target without bore sighting first.
also, thinking I am going to dump the rear fixed sight. I did find some better mounts after the range today. Warne looks a little nicer. did not go taller and I still am ok with access to the hammer with scope on.
a recommendation regarding a bore sight would be appreciated. I think mine were loaned to a friend of a family member I would prefer not to contact.

I have a Bushnell arbor boresighter that I believe I’ve had for at least 25 years. Arbor boresighters don’t work very well on barrels with flash hiders, like AR’s. For those situations I have a green laser boresighter. It wasn’t cheap but was worth the cost to me. AA354DF9-4192-41AB-8165-6A2FEF4B98A7.jpeg

If you’ve got a small bore light (flexible neck) you could slip it in the chamber and perhaps project light on a wall in a darkened room. I believe Walmart sells Winchester branded lights fairly cheap. May be enough light, may not. Under $10 to find out.
