Its a Pietta from cabela's. I also picked up a slim jim (maybe I'll practice some quick draw just for fun). It was love at first sight when I opened the box. This one is overall much better in fit and finish than my 1860. The timing is good. Chamber to barrel alignment looks nice and clean. The picture doesn't do justice to the case colors. The action was surprisingly smooth not gritty at all. All in all not too bad for $170. As soon as Pennsylvania gets a break from this latest cold spell I'll give it a workout with balls and conicals.

l got one exactly like that from cabelas too. i took it out the first time yesterday. i tried 15 an 20 grains of 777 with the dixie's .380 ball. the former grouped poorly with 5" at 15 yards. the latter shot 6" high and grouped the same. don't be discouraged with these initial results. the more experienced 1851 owners have better results with different powder. i am still testing out other loads. it also practically has no kick. it felt like nothing when i shot together with my .44 cal old army. HAVE FUN!!!

That is one pretty pistola.

My own is a "No Name", can't find who made it, all milling machine marked barrel, still looks pretty good, anyhow.

Mebbe should go to Cabela's and buy a new one.

Have lots of fun.

Cheers,

George

I got my 51 from cabelas too, but I got the engraved Wild Bill Hickok model. It cost $250 just for the gun, but I love the engraving on it so I spent the extra $$$. My second favorite gun that I own, if I didn't have a Colt 1911a1 army, it would be number 1. These things are addicting!
