If you have never fired one of the H&K P7 series guns... FIND a way  . I just got this today and on the way home i decided to stop by the local range and take her for a spin.

Boy was i glad i got this thing!... I have several Super accurate guns and i have always heard great things about the p7's being tack drivers and it did not disappoint.

This is up there with the most accurate guns i own now. Its right there with my Baer, STI's and Dan wessons. I did not expect that level of accuracy for the price.

If you have never fired one before, You have to find a way  It really is that fun :D

I agree. I shot one years ago and had to have one. Accurate, reliable, easy to shoot multiple shots accurately and fast cycling. One of finest, if not the finest, 9mm's out there in my humble opinion.

Congratulations, guess you now know why the HK P7 M8 has a cult following. I can still remember reading a well laid out advertisement of its features in a gun magazine back around 1985, like it was yesterday. I wanted one bad after reading that advertisement. Couldn't get it out of my mind.

In 1986 or so I saved enough money to ordered a new HK P7 M8, paid the sum of $525 for it. A fair amount of money back than. I drove right out to shoot it after picking it up. I was in awe of it accuracy from the start. Had a lot of pistols come and go over the years but this one is still with me.

Runningman-

You still have it from 1985? That is SO COOL!... To have a gun that caught your attention so much to save and purchase it and then to still have it 15 years later. Very cool.

You know, if I could find one that wasn't plum colored, I would probably pick one up. Every time I've gotten the P7 itch, the only ones I could find were purple. I've always just ended up taking home something else I wanted before finding a gun-colored P7.

Eventually, I'd like to find me an old workhorse of a P7. I love the looks of an old holster-worn PSP.

Oh, I almost forgot... CONGRATS on the sweet new beauty.

I like the ones with the purple shade.

Anyhow, im really on the lookout for one with good holster ware so i have something to shoot the heck out of

Yeah, I mean, I don't hate the plum shade. I just would prefer one without it. Either way, I'm with you on the "shoot the heck out of it" aspect. I just want an old one for a fun old range gun. No matter what the color, they are still sweeeeeet.

Welcome to the dark side. Every single person who has tried out one of my P7s at the range has become a "believer". They truly are amazing little guns. Congrats, yours looks like a beauty.

BTW, you can't just have one - even with the M8 heat shield, these things do heat up and get HOT! Gotta have one to cool while you shoot the other.

I tend to like the plum colored ones but since I have only owned a gun colored one who am I to say?

it has an interesting action correct?

Yes, it has a gas operated delayed blowback mechanism which makes it so a larger caliber gun which would not normally be blowback operated such as anything more polwerful than 380, to have a fixed barrel and operate on the blowback principle. Pistols such as Hi Points are also blowback operated but have really heavy slides to retard the movement instead of a gas system like the P7.

The P7 system makes it so you can have all the advantages of a blowback pistol, keep larger calibers such as 9mm or sometimes 40 S&W, and not have excess weight like a Hi Point.

My old 4 digit, narrow release, PSP remains full blue with no plum, but the holster wear is really beginning to take a toll. I simply bought the first one I ever found. Soon after that, I got rid of my Berettas, HiPowers, Radoms and Stars.

Not an M8...

Mine's not an M8 but I like it anyway!

It had the plum colored slide until I sent it to Robar for an NP3 treatment!

Is this the squeeze cocker H&K? If so, I would be curious as to why H&K stopped importing them into the USA and why no other manufacturers adopted the system?

Are the new ones still marked "sterling va". Hk moved to ashburn about a year ago. I live in ashburn so it would be cool if I could have a gun stamped as such

Kingofthehill - AWESOME pics....thanks.I have the PSP version - these are one of those guns that come along every once in a while that you just gotta get - those who don't have one or have never shot one just don't get it......................

Yes it is the squeeze cocker. One little lever acts as a cocker, decocker, slide release, and safety.

HK has stopped making them entirely I do believe. The design was cost prohibitive as the prices of some of the later model M8s prove.

The only thing wrong with these tackdrivers is that they get really hot due to the gasses right above where your trigger finger is that get the frame really HOT. I'll bet NASA could have fixed that problem though.

Expensive . . . but then IMHO it is worth every penny you spend . . . protecting your life.

Real classics!!!

I got rid of my P7. It was very accurate though.

It is not my idea of an ideal concealed carry pistol, but it is an interesting novelty firearm.

I have both an M8 and PSP and I find I carry my PSP the most. Just great pistols.

Here I have not posted this write up I did in awhile.

It is a boring general summary of the pros and cons of the HK P7 series and some further explanation and history behind them.
