Hello everybody,
I just got my tags in the mail and I am super excited for deer season!

However, my permit is for state land only, and only shotguns are allowed on state land (otherwise I would use my 30-06). I was wondering who here has had success with slug hunting in the past and what kind of slugs they used.

Thanks,

I don't use slugs for deer hunting but I typically shoot a hundred or more slugs a year none the less. (more if I attend a shotgun training course)

For the money, I've had good results with Federal Truball, both their reduced and standard velocity loads.

My advice.....pick up several boxes from different manufacturers and see which ones do the best in YOUR shotgun. What works well in mine may not do so in yours.

That being said, here is a group @ 50 yd from my shotgun.

Arizona gave the best advice. Shoot as many brands possible through your shotgun. Each gun shoots a different slug better so shoot up
