Hi there THR member!
First off, I want to say thanks to all of you who helped me get into guns!
So I'm FINALLY in Florida! Escaped the slavery of NYC! I got my DL this morning, and took the still hot peace of plastic to the local gun store and purchased my first handgun (too bad 5 day cool off, heee, it's actually having the opposite effect, can't friggin wait!). Funny thing, they said they will run the BG check once I pick up the gun (I passed one before in NY for a rifle purchase, so no worries right???). Anyways, for my first peace in the colection i got... 90-TWO F Beretta .40 S&W. Boy it felt great in my hand! Can't wait to shoot the thing! But I must admit, that 3 pound of desert eagle felt, well, totally awsome (hint hint, next purchase :) ).

SO what do you guys think about the 90-TWO F ??? May not be the greatest for carry, but overall seams like a nice gun to me.

Anyways, will post pics as soon as I get it and me and the future mother of my children go shoot it at a local range.

BTW, difference between 9mm and .40S&W ??? What's your preference ???

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Congrats on your purchase!!!!

What else is there to say, really. The 92 is the standard issue pistol of the US Military and many police departments around the country. The new 90- line packs .40 cal heat which is much better than 9mm. I haven't shot your specific firearm, the .40 model, but I have extensively shot the 9mm 92 series, and it's a pretty decent, inexpensive firearm. Personally, I don't like the first double action pull (1911 guy here), and there is a lot of slack in the follow up single-action shots (again, 1911 fan here)... but, it's a full-sized firearm and was very manageable in 9mm, and should be close to that in .40 I would guess.

As an entry-level firearm, it's right up there with a CZ75... kinda hard to CCW, at least IMHO. Can't go wrong with it... it's going to most likely fuel an obsession though... from now on you can't let your future mother of your children know the status of your finances.

My first pistol was a .40 Sig 239. After taking it to the range a few times, my next gun was a Glock 19. The only reason I bought a 9mm was because it's cheaper to shoot. Now that I've spent a "load" of money on reloading equipment, I'll definately shoot my .40 and .45 calibur pistols again.

Congrats! The feeling you now have only intensifies with each new purchase...or the anticipation of recieving your first "custom" piece. As far as your particular model, I've not fired it. I have 92s and 96s in 9mm and .40 and think they're great: I like the felt recoil of the .40 better.

We all have our opinions on what should have / could have / would have, but what really matters is that you purchased a firearm you're please with.

Since this is the first in a soon-to-be-bigger collection, you'll probably always have fond memories of purchasing it.

Nice job and have fun shooting!

Take care and be safe,

too bad 5 day cool off

I'll assume that you meant the mandatory 3 day wait period on a handgun purchase.

790.0655 Purchase and delivery of handguns; mandatory waiting period; exceptions; penalties.--

(1)(a) There shall be a mandatory 3-day waiting period, which shall be 3 days, excluding weekends and legal holidays, between the purchase and the delivery at retail of any handgun.

Get your CHL and be done with that silly rule. I am in and out in 10 minutes on a new handgun purchase from my FFL. No wait.

There shall be a mandatory 3-day waiting period, which shall be 3 days. . .
Thou shalst not wait four days, nor shall thou wait two days, excepting that thou waits one more day.

Five is right out!

Mmm, I do not have my copy of the Florida laws on guns on me (forget the laywer's name who wrote it), but I thought that I remembered some law that stated that the State law superceeded any city ordnance.
Then again, most days I am lucky to remember my name correctly.

Congratulations

Sounds like your new purchase is exactly right for you. The Desert Eagles, in my opinion, were better made while in Israel than they are today. The good news is that almost every gun show I've been to have Israeli made pistols for sale.

I haven't had a chance to shoot one yet, but the 90-two F feels like a nice pistol. If it's anything like the 96 I had, you'll be a very happy camper! :D
