A few months ago I picked up my first AR, I sold a model 700 SPS chamber in .223 to fund the AR. I took my 3-9x40 vortex viper off of my 700 to put on top of my AR. I thought it would be plenty of glass for the new rifle. I wasn't expecting the AR to shoot as good as the bolt gun... I was wrong! So after some time at the range I decided I needed new glass, I did hours and hours of reading trying to decide between a leupold, Nikon or Vortex. In all of my reading the Weavers kept getting brought up. I saw the grand slam 4.5-14x40 on midway Black Friday deals. So I picked up two of them, one for the AR and one for my 30-06 to replace my leupold rifleman 4-12x40. I also recently started shooting out past 300yards with the 30-06 so I wanted something with some references for bullet drop.
First impression on them are great, they are good looking scopes, the glass is clear and sharp, eye relief is decent. Time to get them mounted up and head to the range.
I'm $605 into two scopes rather than $700 some dollars into one. We will see how they do on top of the rifles.
