Hey guys I just ordered a suomi 9mm rifle from centerfire systems, I'm super excited. I've been trying to decide between a cheap hi point or a expensive beretta storm but then I found this jewel which falls out right in the middle. It just seems a lot cooler than the other two carbines too. Anyone else have one? I saw quite a few failure to feed posts dealing with the drum magazines on some other forums. I guess I'll stick to the 36 round mags, they are only 15 bucks too! Well just wanted to share my new buy with yall, let me know what you think of the suomi.

I went with the Hi Point 995. Ugly, but I wanted a Soumi so bad...
Not NY legal though...

EDIT:

CRAP! I didnt see the mags were WW2 surplus and therefore preban! Crap! I want one now!

Yeah, Suomis are available in NY, mags are preban, and there's usually a guy selling 'em at the Rochester, Syracuse, and Cobleskill shows.

Be warned, they're heavy.

I think it's cooler than the other two combined! I'd love one, but can't justify the price for a 9mm carbine, no matter how cool. Give us a range report and pictures so we can live vicariously through you. :D
Good shooting,
RT

Cool looking gun. I'll be interested to hear how it preforms. I looked at one and considered picking it up. However, I was turned off by the weight. It weighs as much as one of my 308 Carbines with optic and a 20 round metal magazine. I still think it would be a neat gun to have for the collection though, particularly because they are pretty cheap.

I used to have one. They weigh a ton, but are surprisingly accurate. They don't like weak ammo (I had some sort of Ruskie ammo that it hated), turns into a single shot and the trigger won't reset. But with standard or +P rounds, they cycle fine. If you have issues, it's probably because all of the innards are completely parkerized, adding a lot of grit. If you sand it down and smooth it out, the problems will most likely disappear. I didn't have to though, and it was reliable. I only used the stick mags because I read the drums were very hit or miss.

Probably one of the most fun rifles I've ever owned. For the price, they'll make a Hi-Point or Beretta carbine seem boring, and that's saying something because I feel those are rather fun rifles. I guarantee though, that you will HATE they way they come apart....they're a real pain to get back together, and a thumb breaker. You'll see what I mean. ;)
