Hi, just picked up a model 13 -3 never fired w/original box, grips and (it kills me Bill of Sale). Anyway paid $500 and know I did'nt get a great buy but I like it. Can anyone tell me the year of manufacture
13-3 3 inch, wooden grip serial # BAF40xx
Thank-you

That would be 1988, and that seems kind of late to me for a -3. Sure about the BAF prefix?

Nevermind, it's good. The -4 came in 1988 after your gun. BAF would be between Jan. and July.

I think you got a nice price, and I also think it doesn't matter because you have the gun and the next guy through the door will not have it.

I sincerely thank-you. I just sold a 27-3 and a 19-4 both new never fired for $300 each and am sorry. The 19-4 (6 inch LAPD) had a wooden presentation case and coin, the 27-3 rubber grips, I lost the box (threw it away).
Anyway, this is a nice 13-3 never in a holster, never fired, 3 inch with I think they're called wooden service grips. Anyway, $ 500 seemed high so I'm doing a little extra overtime at work to compensate.
Thanks Charlie

The N frame 3.1/5 barrel was just too heavy for anything but draw duty. I paid $ 289 for it years ago so no real loss. The LAPD was a 6 inch and I would never enjoyed shooting it and I'm trying to be in the frame of mind that if I don't use or enjoy something- it goes. I bought that one when I was a NYC cop for $200.
Anyway, it went to my neighbor (both) so they got a real good home by someone who will enjoy them.
I never really wanted a 13-3, looks awkward to me but could'nt pass it up. In a few years it may be something to trade for something else.
Be safe.

(Are the grips correctly called Service Grips, or Checkered wood?)
