Hello all,

I never liked that dull look of the SR9c barrel and barrel block so I decided to polish them out. I have used Flitz before on my 10/22 and it worked amazing so I tried it on my SR9c. After 1 hour of elbow grease, I was very happy and surprised by how well it actually worked. My barrel looks 100x better than factory and I can actually see myself in it. If anyone has questions all my entire procedure, shoot me a PM. Enjoy THR.

Looks fantastic, CDH.

I wrote a lengthy review of the SR9c on thefiringline.com, and one of the posters over there put up pics of the polish job he did on his barrel, as well as instructions on how to do it. I wish I had the skill and patience to do this.

Well done, sir.

Thanks guys. You do have the skill to do it, it isn't that difficult and looks great when done. If I didn't already love this gun, I do now.

I am also a tremendous fan of the SR9c. It's what I carry, every day.

While other people are happy with their pocket pistols, or even "pistols that are meant to carry, but not to shoot* often", I take comfort in the fact that this pistol shoots like a very well built full size.

Previously owned: SA XDm 3.8" 9mm full grip, Ruger LC9, Kel Tec PF-9.

Why did you sell this gun? Here in MA these are nearly impossible to find and I really want to hear opinions on it.

CDH,

I traded it to acquire my Walther PPQ.

The XDm 3.8" 9mm (full grip) is a fantastic pistol. The trigger has a great feel, for an out of the box trigger. The whole pistol feels incredibly solid. Fit and finish are great. The sight radius is as long as it can be, for the length of the slide (as with any XDm-- because they push that rear sight so far back). It shoots softly. Takedown is easy. Capacity is fantastic.

The only issue is that the XDm couldn't match the PPQ's trigger and ergomonics-- and that is really saying something. I want to repeat that the XDm trigger had a great feel.

I would absolutely recommend that pistol to anyone. I am considering picking up another XDm, at some point.

Interesting, thanks. I really like the look of the XDm and the new XDS but I just bought a new Glock 36 so an XDs would not make sense. The 5.25" XD competetoion is one sweet looking gun though.

And the LC9, did you not like it? I hear the triggers are just okay. I dry fired one and was not impressed.

CDH,

The LC9 has great ergonomics, very good reliability & durability, eats everything you feed it, and has great carry dimensions. Your impression from dry-firing is dead-on, though. That trigger gets a lot of negative comments, with great reason. I'd guess that 2-in-10 guys will say, "I don't have a problem with it. It's fine!" The other 8 will say, "I can't stand that trigger." Too long, and breaks too far back. Probably the same experience you had?

For the record, I don't mind DA triggers, or DAO. I shoot fine with a CZ 75BD (my friend's) in DA, and I didn't mind the PF-9 trigger. That LC9 trigger was just too much.

Yeah I mean its a DAO gun so what can I say? I pull the trigger and I was waiting and waiting, and waiting for it to fire. And the reset is very long. I have a TZ-75 and it has a great trigger on it.

Also, I know you can buy a trigger kit from Gallowayprecision.com and they work great so I am considering buying an LC9 one day. That company makes excellent products. They make an LCI delete for the SR9/SR9c if you really hate the red flag on your gun. I got used to mine though.

I own a ton of firearms and this year has been a buying frenzy for me so I might cool off for a bit. I LOVE the SR22 though. At $289 cash, it is really looking good to me.

The LCI on the SR9c doesn't bug me, either. I'm definitely with you, on that one. Honestly, I don't really think about it.

I had heard about a trigger job being possible for the LC9, but... I guess I'm just not patient enough to wait for my pistol to get back to me. I also agree about Ruger making great products.

My only two firearms at the moment are the PPQ, and my SR9c. I love both pistols. I fully intend to buy a Ruger Mini 14 Tactical, when I get around to buying a long gun. Reviews on the Gunsite Scout are also great.

I haven't looked at getting a .22 pistol yet, but I have been starting to think about it. I'll have to check out the SR22...

Yes, check out the SR22. It is a great range toy and shoots very good, eating every type of ammo. The Mini-14 looks like a great gun but I already have an M&P15 in .556 so another one is too much at the moment. I love the action on those guns, you can really feel the workmanship that goes into it.

And the trigger job on the LC9 you order and do it yourself, no need of having it sent out. I hear the ghost trigger for the SR9c makes it very light but as a CCW, I really am happy with the stock trigger.

It's been great discussing these guns with you, we have a lot in common and are probably 3500+ miles away. The USA is a great place for firearms, just not MA haha.

It has been fun, I agree!

I checked out some SR22 reviews. It looks like a fun .22. I'll probably have to get one, and pile up ammunition.

I agree completely about the SR9c's trigger.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program :neener:; Your polish job on the barrel looks great. I'm planning to get the SR9c withing the next month. I'll have to think about doing that.

The polished barrel looks great but my only concern would be the glare coming off the barrel under certain lighting conditions. Have you noticed any problems shooting outdoors in the sunlight or indoors at a range with overhead lighting?

The glare does not exist and I have never been blinded by any refraction. If you oil the barrel too much, it will get a little dirty but just don't over oil the gun. You just wipe the excess off and it will look great.

I also polished my loaded when up indicator, which looks great. Then I bought the SS Guide Rod from Galloway Precision and also their polished striker indicator. The pistol really "pops" now and I love it. Next I will polish the outside edge of the extractor. Has anyone seen this? I figure if I don't like it I will buy one from Ruger for $20. Anyways, with the polished barrel and polished loaded indicator, I have never had a problem with reflection/glare even under the sun on a bright day.

Does the LCI look better polished? I figured that it would blend better with the slide if I left it factory.
