I was at a local store that has a really good selection and prices on ammo. The were selling the 7.65X51 SA battle packs for $44 each. I've some in the basement I bought from the same place a year ago for $29. I knew the price on ammo was going up but, wow.

I'm wondering if I should buy some now before it goes to $50.

Surplus ammo supplies fluctuate depending upon the availability overseas. As the SA 7.62 NATO supplies are depleted the price will rise.

40 bucks locally

As to whether you should buy?...if you got the dough I say buy enough to last you a few years in a shtf situation.

South African battle packs contain 140 rounds in twenty-round boxes. I believe most other countries 7.62 battle packs usually contain 200 rounds.

From what I understand, all of the SA 7.62 comes via AIM.

Ammo prices have gon up a lot lately. Found an old invoice while looking for some other paperwork, it has 1000 rounds of Wolf .45ACP $109.22.

Now you're doing pretty good to find it for $190/1000 rounds.

Maybe in a few months, if we slow down our buying, ammo prices will sink like gasoline prices have been lately. Saw $2.24/gal at a cash only place near my house yesterday, its usually $0.05/gal cheaper at a station I pass on my way to the range, was $2.29/gal there last week.

As fewer and fewer countries use .308 MBR's we are going to see less and less surplus military ammo in that caliber- plus the "UN Small Arms Nonproliferation" BS means a lot of countries would rather destroy their ammo than sell it on the open market and help "the problem" the UN sees of the dangers of small arms... BS!

Around here I saw gas (Reg unleaded) for $2.04 a gallon, with my $.20 discount from the grocery store I filled up 26 gallons at $1.84 a gallon!
