Well, I have the day off and stopped by the Gander Mountain in Germantown. While browsing the used firearms rack, a bubbaed Mk3 enfield caught my eye. Instantly I was thinking "CHEAP SHOOTER!" Well I was sorely mistaken. The price tag in fact read $429.00. Am I missing something here? Did the Brits line the bores with gold or some such thing to warrant that price? (attempt at humor...)

Welcome to Gander Mountain's firearms pricing :).

IME they want new prices for used guns and MSRP for new ones.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

Well, my day was made a little better when I stopped at Fleet Farm... They have M-44's for $79... Now I just have to find a way to pick it up without my wife discovering it!

I've seen enfields Mk III & IV in my local pawn shops going for $100 and a decent quality Mk III at a local gunshop for $175. Unless that is a mint condition, low #, authentic rifle than you would be ripped-off buying it.

I noticed an enfield for $350. the other day, last I looked they were $120. for a shooter and $150. for a keeper.

CHEAP SHOOTER and Gander Mountain can rarely be used in the same sentence.

.45Guy, will she notice the missing funds or the extra rifle? Either way, I've got some suggestions....;)

Most likely the missing funds. I can probably pass the rifle off as one of my old ones, as I had a 44 prior to our trip to the sandbox.

Perhaps a local plasma donation place would be willing to compensate you for a qty. of your plasma. Local one here pays $50 a week if you donate twice...:)

I don't know why I never thought of that, gotta go.....

Must have been the germantown store? They've had a bubba'd no1 there for about a year now, along with a couple of way overpirced bubba'd Krags.

I've always thought Grander Mountain would be a more appropriate name, becasue you either bring a grand er' you get nothing.Yeah, I know its a bad joke and I apologize fro wasting your time.

One more thing that caught my attention was the clerk having to call a manager to determine if there was a waiting period applicable to a gentleman purchasing a Ruger Red Label....

I bought a used Ruger Mark II VT in .308 for 400 bucks three years ago at the Brookfield Gander Mt. sometime in November. I was moving to MD in January and my wife told me to get it for my Christmas present. It was shipped from Ruger in August and only two months old. I bought it because it looked new. It’s been a tack driver and my favorite rifle. So I guess it’s about being in the right place at the right time.

WOW I Feel like I robbed someone now. I got 2 Mk II's for Roses Dime store before they stopped selling guns at $25.00 ea. , and my Mk IV marked US PROPERTY for $50.00

About the only good gun deal that has interested me is when they put the Khan O/U shotguns on sale for $299. I missed out the last time they had a sale last fall, but want to get one for sporting clays. That and the 'rare' M44 'Russian Service Rifle' (it was actually Romanian) that a GM was trying to sell for $400.

That sounds right for Gander Mountain. The last time I stopped by the store in Merrillville I was thunderstruck by the price they had on a Swiss K31. Aim Surplus wants around $ 100.00 for one. Good old Gander wanted about $ 300.00.
