I just purchased my second M4gery, the last one a sold was a stag and of course was as mistake. I always seem to sell in buyers markets and buy in sellers markets lol.

anyway, I purchased from a reputable dealer what is called a CMMG MOD4SA. It is a 16 inch barrel plus the flash surpressor. It has a 1/9 twist (i wanted 1/7). It supposedly has a bore not chrome lined but better* the company says. It has the M4 feed ramp and the F marked front site. I don't know exactly what a T marked upper receiver is but the only T's i see are on the flat top, t2, t4, t6, etc.

I paid close to four figures for this rifle, several hundred more than the stag upper and lower I bought last year. Also, CMMG says their rifles come with a solid case and two mags. I got a cardboard case and one mag.

Basically I would like to get some general feedback on the quality of the firearm, the price I paid $900 (small shop i expect to pay a bit more), and how to check to see for sure that this is not some kind of build but a complete CMMG. The reason I wonder is it is not in their catalog online and there are a few marks on this "new" rifle. I really can't figure out the markings on the upper, near the rear of the upper is a symbol that looks like a key lock and the front sight is stamped <B2>. Also I did notice the the box say MOD 4LE as well as MOD 4SA, I could not find these nomenclatures listed at the CMMG site.

Any opinions would be helpful. I also noticed a scrape to the metal on the removable rear site and a bit of corrosion on the bolt. Other than that, the rifle seems new. I can deal with a scrape if my rifle is genuine I would not want to send it back realizing how long it might take to get back, and if it ever came back with Obama around. Also, I see no obvious markings on the bolt carrier. I am not paranoid, I just want to make sure I got what I paid for, a full CMMG new rifle. Thanks.

can anyone offer a reply to this? The guy that asked about Delton got like 24 replies. I am just asking for one :) thanks

First of all quit worrying so much, there are many happy cmmg owners out there. T-marked upper is exactly what it seems: the top part of the upper reciever is marked T2 T4 T6, etc. it is only even numbers, which is how its supposed to be. this is there so you can put optics on, take them off, then put them on in the same spot by remembering the t-marking. ramps and f-marked front sight blade are desireable features, once again, no worries there. The keyhole is the logo of the forging company (cerro forge, i believe) that supplies the raw forged upper to the gun company where it is machined into an upper reciever. a lot of ar-15 companies have this keyhole mark on their uppers because a lot of them get their raw forgings from the cerro forge company. I dont know what B2 means, but the front sight on mine has a similar marking. anyways, that is not important, just so it is F marked (which it is).
as far as verifying whether it is an all-out cmmg and not a mix and match deal that someone else owned, i would have no way of knowing how to figure that out. sorry. hope i helped you somewhat. take some pics of the dang thing BTW and welcome back to the sickness:D

lol, thanks a lot for the response and tough love :) I don't think it is a build as I have looked it over a bit more. The lower is CMMG, as is the barrell, and even the mag. The only marking on the bolt carrier is a "B".

I am a bit anoyed that their is a scratch on the bolt for the rear site, someone used the wrong (buy a huge margin) screwdriver.

I have also done some snooping and have found that CMMG only gives out these with one mag, and a cardboard box. I just hope I can get some detailed specs for the rifle, just because I am anal.

Once I clean and lube a put a few hundred down range I will be fine. And I will put up a pick as soon as I can figure out how to do it.

I do sound like a total noob, I carried an A1 for 6 years and did have that Stag last year. I deffinitely made this as an anti-Obama purchase. I am glad I made it though, even if I don't get to shoot a lot, it brings back some memories even if the rifle has changed a lot.

again thanks flyboy
