PVS-27s rock

I wish i could take some better photos including looking through the optics at targets, but i dropped my iphone and cracked the glass so my pics all come out blurry now

btw, this will most likely be one of the stage guns for the night stages in the match in my sig

joe, yes. USO SN3 T-PAL 3.2-17x44 looking through a PVS-27

That is simply brilliant. Is this an idea of yours or have you seen that done before? Really interesting and I'm sure it's a blast to shoot!

the PVS-27 is a military issue item for this explicit purpose. not my idea at all.

Oh ok, sounds good. Obviously I'm not very well versed in military optics ;) Very cool nonetheless.

-BUMMER-

I expected to see a AI AWSM with a S&B, or a Lobaev SVL with a Swarovski... I don't know, something that would make me gasp for air.

No offence meant.

taliv, is that one yours, or on loan?

If i were to get an optic in that price-bracket, I'd be tempted to go for IR instead of NV...could someone give me a short synopsis on where the two technologies stand these days as far a rifle/portable systems? Like between the PVS-27 and the T-14 thermal unit (or other i'm not aware of?). Thanks, I'm behind the tech in this field.

i'm testing that particular one at the moment. will probably buy it

Hmm, I started with a new state of the art AN PVS-2 in my basic training class! It was nearly the size of your whole optic set up.

Oh jeez Tom . . . . you're just rubbing it in now.

You know I'd make your Fall match if I didn't have this thing going on at my club. I'm sure it'll sell out quickly.

The title to this thread should be "Just when you thought long range shooting couldn't get any more expensive"

chris, you know, 308 falls asleep at 800 ;) haven't got to see through the 27s at that range yet, but i'm told it's well within range

i want to mount it on my bolt gun. i'd prefer it actually. the problem is that the mount (badger EFR, which you inlet the forearm of the stock and insert) weighs a half pound, and believe it or not, I just don't want the extra weight way out there on the gun i use for sniper/precision competitions.

heh, and otterbox makes my phone too hard to get in and out of my pocket :)
