Updated Information on Shooting Range Murder:

The first defendent in the first degree murder and robbery of Pastor Mark McCalla was found guilty 2 weeks ago in West Virginia. The actual trigger man goes on trial December 7. Both were army deserters from Fort Drumm. The ATF, FBI and local law enforcement did an outstanding job in finding these hoodlums and bringing them to justice.

They shot my brother in the head with an AK47 they stole from Ft. Drumm. Mark's two stolen rifles were never recovered but they had his handgun in their possession when they were picked up at the Greyhound bus station in Columbus.

WARNING: PLEASE DON'T VISIT A SHOOTING RANGE LIKE THIS ALONE!!!!!!!

Well my prayers still go out to you and your family for your loss. Thanks for the update glad to hear justice is being served.

Wow, I just read through the entire chronology and am saddened beyond belief for the McCalla family. This is a tragedy of immense proportion. My thoughts and prayers go to those who were irrevocably ruined by these merciless thugs.

Thank you for the update. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family in these trying times. May your brother rest in peace.

I'll sticky this thread for a few days, at least until it becomes invisible.

my heart just sank reading this. My condolences and glad they found who did it.

My condolences to you and your family. I can see if he had a fighting chance but he didn't even have that. I hope they get what they deserve and more.

Sir,
I can barely stand to read the story.
I am sorry for your loss.
The only consolation the rest of us have is that they actually caught these sociopaths.
Respectfully,
David

Glad to hear these guys are getting their day in court. This is just an awful thing.

My club is a "dry" range with a clearing barrel and signs posted all over. I still have a hard time not carrying a BUG when I shoot for just this reason. Strangers with guns scare the crap out of me.

I'm really sorry this happened. I hope the trial brings you some peace of mind.

I am deeply saddened by your loss. Glad they caught them, but it probably doesn't make you feel much better. May God give you peace and strength during this time.
Joe

I'm one to give credit where due: The LEOs involved in the investigation did a stellar job, and good on them for it.

Once again I'm sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the update. I think about this tragedy every once in a while when talking to people about local ranges. My thoughts go out to you and your family.

The ninety year sentence is a bit light in my opinion. Scum like these guys deserve no mercy from the legal system.

Wow, just wow.

The kind of act described here isn't one of circumstance, pre-meditation, delusion or any sort of reason I can begin to even think of. This is just a case of impulsiveness and a complete lack of care for humanity of the worst case on so many levels. I personally do not care what kind of sentence these individuals receive be it death or life imprisonment as long as they are never allowed to walk freely amongst the population the earth again for surely that will lead to more deaths of this senseless nature.

I can only offer that I am sure your brother being a preacher helped many people. I would hope that in the years to come the legacy of your brother as a man devoted to the betterment of humanity through the word God outlives the story of the senseless way in which he was killed. I hope you and your family the best at this difficult time.

I had just met Mark by chance on this forum. We had exchanged a few PMs on things of little importance but he struck me as a very decent guy. I was saddened deeply by what had happened to him. I believe our God is a just Father and the animals that killed him will receive what they deserve whether or not our meager justice system gets ahold of them. I am still glad they will be put behind bars where they belong.
I pray that God will bless Mark and his family in all they do.

Thank you for the update.
